I recently purchased a 2001 SVT Cobra with 13,500 km (8400 miles) and it is completely stock. I've owned mustangs previous to this but this is my first Cobra. I was curious to know if it is worth keeping stock. I've been told I should keep it as is and that it would be an excellent vehicle to resell in the future, though others tell me that it's still only a Mustang and that it won't really be worth the hassle of keeping it mint/driving it less to sell it later. Does anyone know what a car like this might be worth to a serious looker now or what it might be worth in the future? I've been tempted to tweak it a little but am hesitant knowing it might be worth some serious money later. Thanks.

Wrong place to post this - try the 4.6 modular forum for better visibility/responses.
As to your question, its just speculation at this point. It is not 'just a Mustang', but its also not a 'only 200 made special secret order code' vehicle. Unless the car is in mint, showroom new/museum condition I would just enjoy it. For current value - check KBB.com or edmunds.com For future value - your guess is as good as anyone else's. The price will be driven by supply and demand, but like all cars the value will likely drop for years before it even has a chance of starting to appreciate. Even then, when you consider time/value of money you are better off putting the cash in the stock market than speculating on a Cobra. |

![]() oh... and as Bartman said, there are far more rare variants of a Cobra to buy and keep as a collector. The 01 is light(er), the last of the naturally aspirated aluminum blocks, and fun to drive. ![]()

Thanks guys, I tend to agree with you. I really do enjoy driving my car and personally, I think mods would just sicken the vehicle. But I think overall I want to keep the exterior stock for that "sleeper" feel. Engine on the other hand...
