I finally did it....

After 17 years, I finally broke down and had the old deck taken down to be replaced with a brick porch/steps and a concrete patio.

These guys are really good and I cannot wait to see the project get finished. I should have taken before pictures but I may sneak out there tomorrow and take a few shots where they just got started.

Can't wait to see the end result of my patio/porch design. I never thought I'd be excited to see this happen but looking forward to the end result.

They have been done for several weeks now and I have put the porch handrails up, just waiting to get time to put the stair rails up and then I'll take photos of the completed job.

Last 5 pics, I should have posted a before but the wood deck was completely falling apart with the wood so worn you couldn't lean up against the hand rail or you could put your foot through the deck flooring. This is much better!!

Yeah Mike, I just planted new grass a couple of weeks ago and I plan to add an outside solar light and some shrubs/day lilies before I fence in the entire yard.

Very nice. Are those lights on top of the post? That's what it looks like in the picture. You can tell it's not in Texas or there would be a cover over it to keep the hot sun off of you.

They are 4X4 treated lumber posts concreted in to the steps and porches with vinyl coverings on the outside with "solar light" caps that illuminate light blue at night and light up the back of the house. They're pretty bright for solar lights so therefore you cannot cover the top of the lights up otherwise they would not recharge for the next evening. I got them at Lowes for $28.00 a piece.
