If you had the choice, what would you select for a new membership packet?

I've been discussing this for some time with a couple of people and wanted your input on what would be a better SCMC membership packet?

Currently, you can pay $20.00 and get the following:

1. SCMC Decal
2. SCMC Membership Card
3. SCMC Directory
4. Promtional advertisements from vendors along with discount coupon codes and coupons
5. Event discounts...
6. Free car shows at Autofair and Pro-Dyno.

If you pay $50.00 you get the following:

1. Everything above plus...
2. SCMC tee shirt
3. SCMC side window decals
4. Priority Mail Shipping

I'm trying to be realistic here so what would you like to see in a new membership packet?

Would you want to get rid of the $20.00 a year dues altogether but still offer it as an option for multiple years? In other words, if you renew, you get a premium membership and each additional year would still be $20.00 so you can keep the multi-year membership.

How would you feel about getting rid of the SCMC membership cards and replacing them with say an SCMC hat pin?

If you would like to see different products then name them here and I will investigate whether it is doable or not. Thoughts??

Tony

you could get rid of the cards, maybe put the directory online to save paper.hat pin would be cool or if your spending money for pins maybe a dog tag with your club # and year? seems like it would be easy for someone to set up a stamping die .or vinyl #'s of your club # dare i say Saleen -like/
anyhow any thing is appreciated.

Yes, I meant to mention putting the directory on line so it would be easy reference for members but it would not be publicly available but with a hidden link. This will save on paper and reduce the cost of postage. The link would be given in an original welcome message that welcomes you to the SCMC.

Definitely the hat pin or maybe a lapel pin that would be a little larger. I'd like to do something that is year specific where it would apply to your year Cobra or GT 500.

My thoughts are the following for a new member:

1. SCMC Tee shirt
2. SCMC windshield decal
3. SCMC hat pin
4. SCMC Cleaning Towel
5. Promotional materials and discount coupons
6. Priority mail shipping
7. SCMC Poster - we'd have to make these up each year with different photos of member's cars.
8. Cost to be around $45.00 a year. (This is a $5.00 reduction in dues.)

What we would drop:

1. SCMC Directory
2. SCMC Membership cards
3. Quarterly newsletter but still have monthly e-mail updates

What we will be adding to the store sometime this year:

1. Quick Reference guide
2. More SCMC merchandise
3. Continue with SCMC calendar

I just like getting a little discount at track events.

I don't need all the fluff.

As a new member, I can say your packet is much nicer than any other club that I am a member of. I am a MCA member and a Member of Black Swamp Mustangs in North West Ohio. So you and your wife's work is very much appreciated. With that being said, I agree that you need to streamline. I like the Idea of a hat pin. Also, in my opinion, all of your promo materials discounts etc. could go in a secured link of the web site. This would allow you to keep the material "fresh" and in 1 spot. This would allow you to keep the mailing cost down too (maybe).

Thanks again,

Keith Story

Thanks Keith for the compliments. We can definitely put the directory on line but I'm sort of committed to the advertising stuff since vendors pay for us to do that. I guess one thing that triggered this was the kits I got from other clubs that had a wealth of products in them that I thought was well worth the price of membership so therefore...let's streamline and make it worth the price.

I hear ya Snoopy but a little fluff isn't bad every now and then.

I like the dog tag idea also. The last company that I worked for had I.D. tags that every one had to wear for ID, but it would be cool idenification and advertizing at car shows, to show what club you belonged too. Don't know the cost, but the high speed mouse pad with the members car on it is cool.

I like that, but would be cool if it was metal, with the club logo on one side, and your name and club # on the other side.

Membership Packet

I think a one time membership card and a SCMC decal would suffice.
Make the card so that it shows the person's name, SCMC number and the date he/she became a member. No expiration date. Members would get an annual notice that membership should be renewed. Once dues were received their status would be updated in the database.
All that other stuff should be made available online.
Keep it simple.

What I am trying to do is not have to take time to personalize items for membership. That is time consuming especially when you have to do 50 or so a month. What I want are items that can be generic then if you want something personalized, you can buy that in the store.

The dog tag idea is fine but it would be helpful when you make a suggestion, you add websites and references to back it up. In other words, take a minute to locate the items suggested and then post the URL so others can see what you are talking about.

Thanks and keep the input coming...

i didnt include a link because there are a tons of places that do this .It would be beneficial to find one closest to you, which i wouldn't know.the problem also is to get a bulk rate they would all be the same, and to get members car info on it it might price out as single tags , unless you strike a deal with one of the companies to give you a bulk rate . also didnt know if anyone would like the idea of tags .so here are a few examples ( i kinda like the bottle opener one )
https://www.dogtagsinc.com/engraved/...tle-opener.htm
or
https://www.dogtagsinc.com/military/default.htm

hope everyone has a safe summer
