Wheels for rear of '01 Cobra

I am not sure if this is the area this belongs in, but I'll post it here, and if it belongs somewhere else, I am sure the moderators can move it.

I went to the track last night to try out my new drag radials, and came to find out the wheels I had them mounted on (something like 96 GT wheels) wouldn't work with the H&R spacers on the car, and the spacers were on to tight for me to get them off at the track. So, I STILL have brand new, never used drag radials!

However, this got me to thinking (after manhandling the wheel/tire combo for a bit) that lightweight wheels would be a good thing. I went out on the web and looked around for racing wheels, but didn't find a lot of useful information. I think I read somewhere that the minimum size wheel that would fit the 01 without filing was a 16". On Cragar's website, they list a type 46/47, bit I don't THINK it comes in 16". Weld makes a 16x9 wheel, but they are expensive at like $270-290 each.

Does anyone have experience with lightweight racing wheels for the '99-'01 Cobra's? These would ONLY be used at the track, so I don't need fancy and expensive...I need functional and light. I also need to know what the minimum size and backspacing needed to clear the stock '01 rear brakes are. The car is not lowered and the suspension is stock except for a PHP brace and bushings.

Any help any of you might offer would be most appreciated!

I don't have any info on what rims you need but I thought I would tell you to get ready to upgrade you halfshafts, I broke a halfshaft at the track on a bone stock car ( except shifter ) with nothing more than drag radials. All I did was a small dryhop to knock the rocks off before I pulled up to the line and POP she goes. All I'm saying is to expect it to break even with just drag radials. Hope you had better luck than I did.

Hey, I have already accepted that it is not a matter of if, but a matter of when. When it happens, I'll drop in a set of '03 halfshafts and see how long they last. If I break those, then GKN Stage III's would be in order. Thanks for the advice though!
