Wheel spacers for back of 96 Cobra?

Is anyone running 17X9 wheels with spacers on a lowered 94-98 Cobra?

I am planning to order a set of H&R spacers for the back. I want to get the 1" spacers, but I'm afraid that they might rub in corners on the street or on the track.

important notes:
1. I run 275/40 17s on 17X9s at all four corners on the street.
2. I run 245/45 17s on 17X8s on the track.
3. I have never rubbed a rear tire on the street or track.
4. I'm about 1.5-1.75 inches lower than stock.
5. My rear suspension is stock with upgrades planned for next year.
6. I don't mind rolling those fender lips up a little, if necessary.

No experience with the 1" spacers (ask MM for details)... BUT, I run the MM 0.25" spacer with no rub problems.

Bryan, do you run longer wheel studs with those spacers? I bought a set of .25" spacers also, when I tightened the lug nuts, they didn't feel right. Almost felt like that threads were on the verge of stripping. I took the spacers back off rather than taking the chance.

I have the H&R wheel spacers on my 96 cobra with steeda sports on the rear and have had no problems with them rubbing. Call MM and ask them if they have had any problems with 275s rubbing, I would be interested too, I have 245s on my cobra r's, but plan on going to a 275 tire next time. I like them a lot, but am not sure I would want to use them on the track, however, I do use them to autocross!

my 18x9 wheels and 275/35/ 18s with a mm 1 inch spacer hit on sharp bumps only after lowering 1.5 inch on the outer edge of tire had to remove spacers. my 2 cents

Just wanted to share the info I got from Chris at MM.
Those guys really are great.

The best way to insure that the spacers will not cause contact between the fender and the tires is to measure the existing clearance from the outer edge of the tire to the INNER edge of the fender lip (either rolled or stock). On a stock suspension, the rear axle can walk left or right as much as 3/4". This is the minimum clearance that is needed on each side of the car AFTER THE SPACER ARE INSTALLED. If you have a panhard bar, the axle will not move left and right and you can run as little as 1/4" clearance. Hope this helps.

I haven't measured mine yet, but I'm guessing I've got more than 1.5".
