Is CAI worth it and, if so, which kit?
Is CAI worth the time and money? What kind of "real" hp gains can you expect? What kit shoud I use? Does K&N make one?

With a supercharged car, I would say emphatically that it is worth the money....
I can't answer the other questions as I don't own an 03 Cobra yet....

I picked up 21rwhp with a K&N big mouth filter. A buddy of mine got 24rwhp with a DenseCharger. Of course, mine was ALOT cheaper.
FWIW, there are numerous CAI that will get you ~20rwhp for $150-175 so yeah, it's worth it.

Pulled my snorkel off and called it good enough. My car has stalled a few time so I didn't want to change to much till that is cured.

A drop in K&N filter will net you 10rwhp. A good CAI will net anywhere from 15~25 depending upon your mods. I highly suggest the Steeda Kit if you are going to mod your car.

I have a Steeda. Happy with it's looks and performance.
Others are just as good

I put in the K&N FIPK and if nothing else I now get approx 30 miles more to a tank of gas, This kit is not 03 specific and if you call K&N they will tell you they dont have an 03 specific kit But the 01 kit works just fine , and the boys at 5.0 Mustang magazine got like I think around 19 ponies out of the kit price is right also approx 163 bones

I talked to the people at Steeda and they told their CAI nets 5-7 hp. The folks at K&N said they don't have an FIPK yet, but, I didn't realize people were using the one for the 01 Cobra.
After some of the problems people are experiencing, I think I'll just drop in a K&N. My Formula was modded and I did have problems from time to time. I guess I'm just gun shy now. |
