New Tires ?

I almost hate to ask this question, because I'm sure it comes up all the time, and I will get a bunch of different answers.

What tires should I purchase for my 03 Cobra (275/40)?

And where is the cheapest place to buy tires?

Does anyone in the club have a contact, or get special deals?

I am looking for primarily street use, that won't have to be replaced every 15 k miles.

My car is a daily driver, but I work close to home and most of the miles are put on the weekend have fun.

OK LET ME HAVE IT

First you need to get over the unrealistic expectations on tire wear. IT IS A COBRA!! You will need new tires every 15,000 to 20,000 miles.

Now with that out of the way go check out TireRack.com. You can pull up a list of most of the tires available for your particular car, compare them and read reviews. Pick what you want and either buy from them or use their prices to negoiate a better deal with your local shop.

Good Luck

For mostly street use??? BFG KDW's!! They have a great tread pattern, work well in the rain and in the dry, and they wear well.

My buddy Shane (white 99 Cobra) just put a set on his car... he got a great deal at Costco. not sure exactly what he paid, but I can find out?... it was a little cheaper than Tire Rack though, and he did not have to pay for shipping and install.

I've got the KDW's, and they are great in the rain. If your car is fair weather only then you can get some good tires for less money. If you drive in the rain and find a better tire than the KDW's then let us all know.

Thats right, for the money the Nitto's are great and they hookup on the track real good, the street performance is good too.

Leaning towards ................

I am currently leaning towards BG Goodrich KDWS, rather than KDW, to go and get milk.

They are W speed rated AA A rated, cheaper, have a longer tread wear, and are not unidirectional, so when my right rear wears I can actually rotate it to the left.

Hopefully I can get some real track tires for future events.

Any other comments on this plan.

Sounds like you all had way to much fun! Sorry I missed it. I 've used both the Nitto 555 and the BFG KDW. Get the KDW you will not be disappointed. Much better than the 555, especially in the wet.

There are KD, KDW, and KDWS tires.

The KDWSs are an all weather (wet/dry/snow) and are W rated (168).

The KDWs are a wet/dry tire and are Y rated (186)

The KDs are dry tires that are just shy of an R compound tire.

The KDWSs are cheaper, but I can't find a lot of info on them online. I would bet that the KDW is a better tire unless you need the snow ability (if they would really help a Mustang in the snow). Have you found a place that carries the KDWS in Houston? I hear they are available only in certain markets and you may have to have them shipped in.

So far cheapest price is discount tires at about 206 per tire installed for KDW.
