Anyone know a GOOD tuner in the Atlanta area or the Columbia area? I need a good tune for my KB supercharged mystic! Any info or experiences would be helpfull!

Maybe Tom Crews will chime in here. Randy Haywood (ex true blue performance) will meet you at a local dyno. His flat fee is supposedly $500/including chip. You must pay for dyno time though. Once I have the cash, he's who I'm calling. I'm pretty sure he Tom and someone else down in Columbia.

Hope this helps.

Yes, Randy Haywood did my tune and I HIGHLY reccommend him.

www.haywoodspeed.com

He just opened a new shop though he came to Columbia to tune my car car and a few other guys.

He definitely knows his stuff.

Jason,

Check out Modulardepot.com. Superchips has teamed with the guy who was Fordchips and they have released some killer tuning software. I have used it to tune my car two weekends ago and while it's complicated to use I think in the long run this will be the solution to having to depend on an outside tuner. These guys also travel around the country and have tuning days at dynos. I would love to setup a tuning day with them in Asheville but we must have at least 10 people who are willing to run the Superchip. I'm one.

Big Daddy,

How does that work? Do you own the chip , burner, and software? I am in Hickory and am interested. What would be the costs involved for them to do the tune on a dyno day they put on?

You do own the chip, the burner and the software. The cost of the package is $795.00. The cost for a dyno day is $400 per car and they will tune until it is correct. They will give you the tune file for your car when it is complete.

I have found a guy that actually reprograms the factory computer. He said that it is the newest tuning craze. No chip is needed! He programs the computer for the proper ratios for your mods. Cost is 350 plus 100 to dyno afterwords to make sure the computer is doing it's new job. When done, the computer will also compensate for other light mods and add/remove fuel or timing accordingly. He expained it alot better! I'm thinking about giving it a try! Thoughts?

It could be Fordchip as well. The do computer "flashes" by request. Or at least they used to. The SCT software is capable of the same thing if you don't want to use a chip. Going with the SCT software is something I'm seriously interested in, but with Randy Haywood's new shop only 2 hours away, would it be worth it to spend $795, plus a laptop, and get a wideband o2 sensor? Plus, my tuning knowledge is about .01% of Randy's. I mean, how many times am I going to require a tune? Randy will retune my car as I add mods for $100 for an hour of tuning..... Heck, as quick as he had my car dialed in, I'll just pay by the run and save the money.

On the other hand, there are tons of features that come with this software that definately gives it the "cool factor". As far as being difficult to use, there is a ton of support on modulardepot.com that will help get you where you need to be. I've seen some major increases in numbers with people using this software, but it's always been on a SCT dyno day from what I've seen.

Josh, I agree but if you were to take the software to someone like Randy...THINK what he could do with it! I may have him do just that while I'm working in Wilmington, NC this next year!

I agree Greg, but that's a ton of money to spend. Is this stuff "that" much better than autologic?? By "that" i mean $795 + $1000 for laptop?

I live 100 miles from Wilminton, so if you want to meet up sometime, just give me a call, I have no problem driving down there.

Well I already have the laptop so it was the $795 and YES it is that much better than the autologic software! You can do so much more with the SCT software it's not even funny.

Well I start on Monday for two weeks then two weeks working from home. I start my regular Monday thru Thursday routine on Jan. 5th. We'll plan something for after the New Year!

Here is a copy of the email that he sent me!
The reflash technology we use is the same technology Ford uses to flash stock computers..There are over 4000 parameters we can access verses the 4 banks a chip can access..With a chip your computer is told what to do.With a reflash I set parameters and an adaptive strategy. This allows your car to "learn" new mods without having to retune and also allows your car to add timing/pull timing ,add fuel/or pull fuel when needed to keep your car safe..Our shop is one of only 12 across the country with this technology.I flash cars almost daily as well as send supercharger and turbo tunes out to people all over the country. Its the best possible tune there is .
Supercharged cars are $350
N/A cars are $250
Dyno time is $100..added to the cost above...

I'm probably going to give it a try!
