Porting your Eaton.

I was curious about porting the Eaton blower. There are a couple of sites that I have been looking at Apten & Stiegmeyer. They are report an increase in about 40 horses or so. I have heard that it is really like a 20 hp increase. Question: Is it worth it and if so what are your numbers by porting?

coy, go down to the post "who to use for porting" and look on cobra330. He has a link for some dyno charts and some different mods so it might clear it up for you a little. I have a ported blower on my next mod after some exhaust. For the money i think if you dont plan to go over 450 to 500 hp this is the way to go.

Just my .02!

But after you port the blower and run the pulleys and the rest of the bolt ons the Eaton is basically maxed out!
Depending on what kind of horsepower gains you want to shoot to be the final power!
The twin screw's have great power gains and less stress on the engines! Just a thought, but I realize that money is always an issue.

And here is the latest updates to Steigmier(sp) porting and gains...just remember..I am not saying this place is the place to go or the only place..it's more for information purposes. They have, however, done it for awhile...so, they are good at it...as I have heard from most people. Their are others out their too...such as Amazon Racing..

Note too..this will create lots of heat soak..so, it is recommended that you upgrade your heat exchanger..and I would recommend before or at the same time..especially if you change the blower pulley...

Sorry, I guess I missed the (porting) thread a while back. Jack, I see that your snake and my snake have the same mods. I have a question concerning the Hypertech programmer. My question is that after you port your blower what happens with the programmer, do you leave it in? Or will you have to get a custom tune with or without the programmer installed? Don't want to blow a $14,000 motor up. I would like to get about 500 @ the rear. Have you dynoed your snake yet with the programmer?
Thanks for everyone's input.

Coy, im going to go with a chip after the port. I've been told both that you would have to get a tune or you would be ok without one. Its better to be safe with a tune than without. I have not had mine on the dyno yet i figured around 425 to 450?

Just to throw my .02 in...when you do upgrades to all cars but, in particuliar 03/04 due to the additional supercharger..you better get a tune. You need to make sure your air/fuel is okay..to prevent dentenation..which will basically ruin your engine if left unchecked for long. If you have not done that buy the time you port your eaton...you should then get it done immediately!! Just want to make sure you save your car...that's all...

On a side note..you can just get your computer chip reflashed..or go with a chip. I personally will go with a chip with 4 programs...cold weather, hot weather..and 2 others yet to be decided.

I would recomend a tune as well. I had a chip from upr allong with the pulleys. Then I did the exhaust and intake, car was running great, a little too great! So I took it to my local dyno, Slaters, and they said it was running very lean, just as i EXPECTED. They changed the chip to one of theres so they could adjust it. Now I feel more comfortable with the tune. I got 472hp, and thats without porting the supercharger. My next mod is going to be changing the charger to either a whipple or KB, I am leaning towards the KB though.
