What is it about my car...................

That makes every d**n pickup truck that pulls up next to me want to race? Vettes? No. Camaros? No. Any cars? No. Just trucks. I don't get it. Z-71 and Tundras tend to lead the pack in this annoyance too. Anybody else having this problem?

Never had that problem with the trucks. Don't see alot of vettes around here. Camaro wise all you see is just the z-28's. Although I have had some of those annoying rice rockets try to give me a run. All have them have been kids. I don't think they know what a cobra has, I think they just think it's a regular mustang. Not one that has 400hp. Whenever you throw them the money sign after the first run they don't even look over. I wonder why

I seem to remeber a certain incident with an SUV at an intersection here in town. What was it again? A Suburban that wanted to race you?

I said not really! But yes every now and then some idiot in a Tundra or a SUV thinks he's fast! That SUV almost wrecked going through the intersection and I bet his wife who was in the passanger seat probably beat the S**T out of him!

Just happened to me about an hour ago on my way to work. And it was only 7:30 on a Sunday Morning! What makes it worse with these trucks is that if you don't get away from them they feel compelled to drive right in front of you even if the other lanes are free.

I feel your pain...

On another note, I had a run in with a new GT last night on the parkway. Nothing too major due to the fact that there were many cars on the road. I will say however that I was very impressed with it's display of power when he downshifted and gunned it. I really didn't want to compete with him as much as observe, so I let him take the lead as we were zipping from lane to lane and tried to listen to the car and check out it's handeling. I have never heard one before when opened up, but if that was the stock exhaust I heard, it had a nice growl. I would imagine that with a supercharger it would be a major contender.

I always have the kids with the Hondas doing stupid stuff. Usually they have lowered cars with upgraded air intake and exhaust. I have owned many Hondas, my daily driver is an Accord, and I am not sure what gives these kids the impression that thier Honda is fast.

I was at an import speed shop once when the owner was putting a turbocharger onto an Acura. I asked him how fast these imports are when tricked out with turbochargers, BOV and the like. He said they could run in the mid 13 sec range in the 1/4. (BIG DEAL!!!!)

I usually get the family mini van with one of those round stickers on the back (mostly soccer balls and once in a while Penn State mountain lion paw prints). I think it is due to the cat-back on the car since their attempt is to get in front so they can hear their cell phone conversation.

I have stirred up a nice 01 Corvette a few weeks ago. I was not in the mood to play around (tired and had a few beers) and the police were out in full force making sure the bulevard stays as boring as the posted speed limit dictates. I did stop and talk to the Corvette driver after he pulled over into a parking lot. I told the driver his car sounded great since he let it rip when he passed me. His response was that my car sounded better than his. He was disappointed that I declined to race around on the highways, even though I only had two beers but it was the wise thing to do. Since we both go to the same drag strip, perhaps there we could take home some bragging rights. He claimed his car would run 12.2 in the quarter with a 115mph trap speed. Most of the 01 Corvettes I have seen run 106 @ 13.4 seconds in stock trim.

That is hilarious!!! Last night I was driving around town at midnight just to get out of the house. I was jamming to the radio with my windows rolled down and didn't notice the little hatchback civic with the huge fartcannon that pulled up next to me. When he punched the gas he startled me because the car was sooo lound (in that fartcannon sort of way) so I had to repay the favor by pulling up next to him and getting my exhaust right next to his open window, a downshift to 2 and I filled his ears with decibels of that cobra goodness.

I have an 04 Cobra that's stock except for a set of Borla Stinger Cat-backs. I have raced some other cars and so far none have come close to matching me. These cars are pretty awesome right from the factory.

It does seem like a lot of people want to try you. I also don't think most people know what's in the Cobra. I had a WRX STI pull up along side of me on the highway. I pushed it back into 3rd gear and floored it. Instantly I jumped about 2 car lengths in front of him. After about 4 seconds I was 5 or 6 cars in front of him and the Borla exhaust was roaring. No contest! I let off of it and granny shifted up to 6th gear. The Scooparu kept it floored and eventually flew by. Afterwards I think the guy still thought he had the quickest car on the road.

You gotta love what these cars can do! I plan on some mods to increaase the HP this spring, but even stock these cars are a lot of fun.

Most kids or other drivers will test to see how fast your car is or how quick they will be lost in an instant of boost from the supercharger. For one, since there are far less cobra's out there not too many can recognize them. And secondly since most of thier vehicles were scrap yard treasures, they may assume that what you are driving is nothing more than a decal job (similar to what they are driving). I still remember the idot who tried to challenge me in a VW jetta. When the light turned green, I just sat there while he punched the throttle and spun the front wheels loose. Dang car was all over the road as well as in my lane. If I just pulled out to keep up, he would have hit me. I guess it is that whishful thinking that they are driving something else that makes them belive that thier vehicle can take on the world. Perhaps just a misguided EGO.

Some of these posts are classics...lol...

I haven't had problems w/ Pickup's or SUV's as much as just pieces of Crap pulling up beside me at lights. Just last nite on the way home from Zaxby's a ragged-out! beat all to hell Grand-Am full of kids ragged me all the way thru town wanting me to hit it.

With gas now hitting $2.05 a gallon, gonna be a little more selective with who to mix it up with.
