Well what can I say. This years event top them all. What a great time with the gang. I truely think what made this event so much fun was the people from the club. Everyone was having fun and enjoying their cars and hanging out together. Thanks to the group of people who made this event possible and all your hard work. It just keeps getting better each year. Special thanks to Jim Boden and Jackie for keeping everything organized and their dedication to our club. David, Andy, for getting the great instructors to turn out and support our event. You guys did a great job. Edmond next years event will really be something. Oh and the Red Run Group Rocked Cant wait till Stan, David, Henry, and Larry can get back on the track with me to play some more. Was that fun guys or what! We also have a new tradition at the RED SNAPPER, that was some great seafood. The last thing I would like to say is thanks to my friend Larry for saving my weekend and let me run in both the Cobra R and the GT. I owe you one buddy Now it's time to get to work and find out whats wrong with the KB and get the car back together. Thanks Guys for one great weekend. This Club is great because of the people.

It's hard to believe that last years fun could be topped... but I'm totally in agreement with Carl!!! Y'all did it!!! Your hard work and careful planning turned into a MARVELOUS EVENT TO BE REMEMBERED !!!!

The enthusiasm, the smiles, the camaraderie, the help, the ideas, the instruction, the rides, and the friendships!!!!

Man, the hardest thing about missing a great event like this is reading all of the "I'm so AMPED" posts that follow. Killz me lol. Glad to hear you guys had fun at MSRH and the event went so well. The weather rocked for your event, must be all that clean living the SCMC guys in Houston do all year long?

Sorry to miss out, believe me it was very hard to be on the north side of Houston all day yesterday lol.

This was the 2nd event I attended but the first in a Cobra...both events at MSRH were great! And it was truly the people!!! How fun is it to run your car at break-neck speeds with a bunch of fun loving guys?! Thanks to the great folks who helped organize and maintain the event and thanks to the great folks who showed up. That combination is rare and much appreciated!

The pictures posted so far are great and I will have my videos posted in the next day or 2.

Also thanks to Ray Guerrero for showing me what my car was capable of with it's current set-up. That was a scary ride! Thanks for taking Eric out in it, too. It was fun watching my own car go around the track.

Phil started the tail-light replacement fund. With his matching contribution, we're already up to $2.

Oh, and thanks to all of you who appreciated the fogger...no reports of mosquito bites were received throughout the weekend! One of the guys from Dallas came up with a new license plate for me....EPA KLR...how's that?

As most of you know, this was my first event. All I can say is “holy sh!!”. You could have never convinced me that my mild mannered ’95 Cobra was capable of doing the things that my instructor had me doing with it. I felt myself getting a little faster and a little more confident each session. And I’m proud to say that by the last session Sunday I was seeing the flag positions. Only one small “off road” excursion during the last lap of the last session. My big foot covered the brake and gas at the same time and you know the rest.



Everyone knows what Eloisa and I think of the club and the people in it. And we can only second what Carl and Jimmy have already said. Thanks to the real workers behind the scene Edmond, David, Jim and Jackie. And thanks to Jim and Jackie for letting Eloisa and I help out a little.



Only have one question, WHEN CAN I DO IT AGAIN?

I have to totally agree. What make this a great club to be a part of is the members and the camaraderie. I would especially like to thank Andy, David, Jim and Jackie, Larry and Eloisa, and Carl for helping with running the event. I would also like to thank our great instructors, who make this event enjoyable for everyone. They do a wonderful job.

It was great to have the SHO guys out. Them SHO's can definitely hold their own on the track. Hope to see ya'll at the next event.

Expensive weekend! Let's see:

• Event fee
• New brake fluid/brake flush
• Alignment
• New helmet (found the original Friday night)
• 3 tanks of gas on track (yes, it's a 4 banger)
• Lots of food
• Lots of cigarettes
• Lots of drinks
• New wheel or wheel repair

Worth it? Hell yes.

I just wanted to say that even though I was not running, or there for the most part, driving into this event at mid day it looked like everyone was having a great time and the event was being well run....as always. It was great to see you guys putting on such a successful event and I'd like to express my congrats to Jim & Jackie, Edmond, Andy, David for getting this event organized. I've been on some of the other boards and those members all had a great time as well. It's good to know that others think we run a top-notch event as they're sure to tell others and come back next year.

A short report from the MSR Houston event.



After having corvettes for a number of years, my wife and I traded in our vert on a Heritage GT about three weeks ago. It was quite a change. Even driving it back home it was a handful and the computer had not released the 2nd set of injectors or the supercharger yet (takes 50 miles for the computer to enable them it seems). So one of the GT Forum folks sent me the link for the SCMC event. I talked it over with my wife and we decided to sign-up – and did. The next few weeks we drove the GT every day to get some miles on the car before the event as it only had 6 miles on it when we picked it up. It was a hard and thankless job … but I took it upon myself to drive the car as much as I could and we actually had 670 miles on it when we showed up at the event. The bummer was that we had to get the brake fluid changed for the event and that cost $387 when it was all said and done and we had hardly even used the original fluid…oh well. BTW, I had to give the dealer a week to figure out how to do it as their techs had not been to the Ford training. But, it got done and only took about 3.5hrs for them to do it (I took a nap in the waiting lounge).



I printed out the instructions and off we went Friday afternoon to head south for the track. The instructions said it was off Hwy 288 at County Road 48. Well, we passed North County Road 48 and my wife asked “is this the road”? No, I said, it is County Road 48. On we go and in due course we passed South County Road 48. Once again she asked “is this the road”? No, just County Road 48 is what we want. Well about that time we had a “discussion” on the quality of the directions and the appropriateness of having maps in the car. I pointed out, in my defense, that we had the GPS unit so we did not need the maps. About that time she gets out her cell phone and calls the track. Ok, it was South County Road 48 we wanted. Wife - 1, husband w/GPS - 0. I will hear about this for many years to come but we got to the track in plenty of time to register etc.



Saturday was a nice and cool but a little windy. Since this was our first time at a track, we were assigned to the beginners groups. I was in the Blue group and my wife was in the Green group. The instructors really were very helpful and gutsy. I can’t imagine going out on the track with someone who admits that they know nothing and letting them drive a high performance car with me sitting there wondering if I will survive the day. Our instructors John and Wayne were great – THANKS GUYS!



They talk about “tunnel vision” in the pre-event discussion and it really is true. I was concentrating so much on the track that I did not initially notice much of what was going on elsewhere on the track. It got better as the day went on but I was quite glad to have the instructor with me. On one lap John and I were coming around “the sweeper” and he said there is a yellow flag. I started breaking hard and about that time we see another car in the “bus – stop” that had spun around and was now pointing at us. It is very disconcerting to find yourself suddenly face-to-face with another driver when you are on the track. Yes, John was a handy guy to have in the car. They also talked about having a “death grip” on the wheel and I often caught myself holding on to the wheel “robustly”. It is fair to say the wheel was not going anywhere without me! I got better on the last runs of the day but I clearly need a lot lot lot more track time.



Larry was there with his Mustang and his GT and it was interesting to watch him run the track. He was much better than I was and so it was helpful to watch his GT and see what he was doing. He was reaching 135 in the straight sections and turning in 2 min laps (an approximate time as no one was timing of course). Now it seems Larry has a bit of farmer in him but even with his occasional farming activities, he was doing far better than I was. And, in fairness, his last farming activity was likely helped by some “junk” on the track as he started plowing the field about where a car was hit during a pass earlier. Yep, the principles of physics do not take a rest on Saturdays. Two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time and it is fortunate the two drivers involved were both skillful and lucky and no one was hurt. The corner flag man Yellow flagged that corner the rest of the run.



Now one of the best moments for me came after that run. As some of you know, the track has a lawn mower looking blower-tractor with a big blower on the front that is used to blow sheet metal, tires and the occasional frog off of the track to keep it safe. Well, as the blower-tractor was coming around the “Sugar and Spice” corner and heading into “the pit straight” I looked at my watch and noticed with great excitement that my time was 2 tenths faster….



My wife and I had a great time and we thank all of the folks that helped put on the event and thanks also for letting us non-mustangs participate!!!!

It seems they let any old junker on the track, there was even a Lancer out there . I hate to say it, and don't take this the wrong way, but there's something rather stimulating about getting a point-by from a GT .

I don't care if you drive it like Miss Daisy at the track as long as you're there using the car for that which it was designed instead of looking at it in its humidity controlled bubble. Kudos to you guys who actually use these cars instead of just looking at them.
