About the 135mph mark, on a deserted road with no side roads coming in, and a spotter on the other end, and 2 way radios. It got there pretty quick, and it felt pretty stable compared to my '94 GT that I had going that speed once. I would like to try it again, and see what I can get her up to. But since my insurance dropped $205 dollars a month

I would say I have slowed down considerably since I have been going to the local drag strip. I basically lost the urges to pursue high speeds on the highway but I will every now an then open it up as long as there is not traffic to contend with.

I had to try it once. I know the feeling is awsome but will not do it again. I do how ever want to try the 1/4 mile this summer.

once you have it is hard not to do it again. Best if done on a closed course or track at least that way the road surface and or driving conditions would be safe enough to push the envelope. Highways are not a safe avenue to push the car to its maximum potential due to uncontrolled conditions like animals, debris, traffic, or worse. The same goes for a closed course but at least there are spotters and EMH personnel available in case a catastrophe were to occur. As for the quarter mile, that has its issues as well (loss of control or other driver loosing it wheather it be mechanical failure or driver error).
The quarter mile is alot of fun and I would recommend that to anyone who wants to race. I sure would like to take on a closed road coarse too. Also taking the safety and driving class for road course racing would be cool too.

I have hit a 140mph at VIR on the full course. I have hit a 120 several times on the street, but try not to do that to often.

Whistler has been at 145 a few times at VIR, on track. 140+ at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
The fastest I've ever hit a tire wall is 110, backwards. ![]()

I'm a moron...I like high speeds...I buried the needle in my Cobra...that's not the moron part
I also buried the needle in my 03 Honda Element...seriously...a toaster...going 120+...it handled great actually and buried the needle in my 93 Z28(for 28 miles), my 02 Civic Si, and even the worn out(haha)86 Pontiac Station wagon...with woodgrain decals down the side(peeling off)and no mufflers!!HAHAHAHAHAHA Those are the moron parts I also once ran to Houston from here(to see in-laws) in my 96 4 door civic at a solid 125 for about 6 hours straight during the trip...minus gas stops and highway changes and food...THAT was fun...we had a convoy going with a bunch of Z71 Chevys! They put us(my wife and I) in between them

145 mph!!!!
I had mine up to 145mph in 4th gear, but unfortunately it's really hard to find a good straight away that is clear of idiot drivers and long enough to get the car up to 152 mph (which according to SVT is top speed for my car).....at least until i remove the speed governor
![]() Once I get a chip in, a cold air kit, bigger MAF Sensor, put on JBA headers, underrive pulleys, and get it all tuned to the new exhaust I put on, I will have the speed governor removed when it gets tuned. Then I should be able to hammer 165 or 170 I would think. We shall soon find out. I know I have to be real careful where and when I do that though, cause around here it's an automatic 3 days in jail, plus the ticket goes on my driving record if I get caught, cause they won't allow me to amend it to a non-moving violation, and on top of that, it's like a $1,000 fine for public endangerment, plus driving school. Damn legal beagles can't let no one have any fun. Andrew |
