Read the directions over carefully... and you will see that the lighting side is going to be a separate hot. The lighting side will be variable off the dash light circuit, and the sender/gauge power will be a full 12v though switched so that it goes cold when the ignition is off.

While you could combine the grounds for the two circuits... the gauge will be more accurate if you run a separate ground wire out with the gauge hot to the sender/sender area. Select a ground as close to the sender as possible.

The reason for this is that the ground voltage can change with distance from the battery... plus the chassis is steel and not copper wire...
So you can see when dealing with a small change in voltage to make the gauge change ..... this would be benefitial.

Here is a link to a how to write up that got stickied at Modularfords.com...

http://www.modularfords.com/forums/r...all-34631.html

BTW I need to re-do my grounds in this same fashion when I am in there the next time...

Perfect timing. I have the gauges mounted and in place. Took a little longer then I thought, had to do some dremel work and now working out how to run the wires.

First thing I said to my self was; this is a piece of cake.
Wrong, I just jinxed myself.

Thanks for the help, this should get it done.

Good to hear you got it all worked out Stan....I'd love to see it. I know I'll be needing help with mine.

This is how I would like to do mine:

Instead of the "pocket" underneath the vents put the gauges there.

I'm not done yet,,,,,,,, It's just looking good at this point.
Taking my time and doing the wiring right the first time.

I like your idea on the climate controls being moved down and gauges up top.

SWEET!

Did not find a 25ohm sweep potentiometer.

Will a 25ohm rheostat work?

I'll have to check tonight... I bought an assortment of allen wrenches and allen drives from Sears (Craftsman)... so I ended up with sizes I didn't need(for this job).

I'll post up after I get home and check it..... the plug is still in my tool box drawer.
I'm pretty sure it was a US size though... 5/16, or 3/8 allen(hex).

Thanks.
With my luck the one I needed would not be in the assortment of wrenches.
