Try to keep the overall diameter (wheel + tire) the same between front and back. Too much of a difference can mess with ABS/TCS.

Pick your tire, then check the MFG web site for fitment. They will usually specify the wheel width each sized tire is recommended for, but for the sizes you are looking at 275 is probably the max width for a 9" rim.

any help would be great. thanks

I am currently running Fulda Quantum Elite (a German knock-off of the Goodyear Eagle "Gatorback"). I am by no means an aggressive driver, and I have also been religious about checking air pressure and having the tires rotated and balanced. Even so, my Fulda Quantum Elites have well over 15K miles on them and are still going strong--a notable feat for a ZR-rated tire. They are also excellent on wet pavement.

Michelin PS2s are really top notch. They come in 275 35 18, and they work great on the street, track, and at autocrosses. They have very good dry traction and are good in the rain. They also give off very little road noise and they are really predictable. The only issue is that the shoulders will wear very quickly when pushed hard. You'll have to watch your tire pressues to keep this from happening. You can expect 10-15K miles on these...maybe more if you take it easy on them.

Some others that that are worth considering are Yokohama Neovas. I'd say it tops the PS2s in every category but their sizes are limited. They don't have 275 35 18s.

Bridgestone RE-01s are hot as well. Same story as the Yokohamas though. They don't have 275 35 18s.

Lastly you may consider going with a cheaper alternative - Falken Azenis RT-615s. These are a great autocross tire. They are even pretty good on the track. These tires will require more babysitting though because they can overheat after a handful of autocross runs and/or 20 minute track session. On the street, these tires probably won't last too long but they're great fun Grassroots motorsports rated these tires the #1 street tire for autocrosses.

Hope this helps.
