Trust me tony, I want to come sooooooo bad. But there is no way I can swing it, you figure a few hundred for gas and food, and with the registration, you are looking at a grand for the weekend.

If mike redinger and chris anderson go down, i am going to try to free up the weekend to head down with them.

Tony,

Is there a registration for the carshow. I'm still thinking of coming down with Mike R. Showing the mystichrome and catching some rides.

I understand Mike, I meant to catch a ride down there with your Dad so you can cut the gas bill but with the way prices are now, premium here is still under $2.00 a gallon. Split the hotel bill and you'll save there but if you want to camp out in the club trailer, you can save the hotel bill, too.

Mark, I don't see the registration form in the store, I'll have to get Edmond to get it up there. If you check your newsletter, there is a "hard copy" in the back of the newsletter.

Or just click here for a registration form:

Tony, are you camping at the track? Can you give me any color about that experience and the facilities? I have reserved an RV spot for the weekend and am leaning that way at $30 per night.

The VIR office also told me they have RVs to rent for the weekend on site which I am considering as it is cheaper than a hotel. This option would eliminate me trailering my car down there which I have zero experience doing.

From what I understand, the rooms at the track are very nice and some of them are right where you can see a lot of the track and what's going on so when you want to take a break, you can go to your room and watch. I may be staying at the track this year.

I don't know anything about the RV's there but the track has extremely nice grounds and the cleanest rest room facilities. You won't be disappointed by camping there.

Well, I am going to attempt to put in for a few days. If things work out right, I will be able to head down, if at least for the car show. Might try to talk dad into finally getting the mystic pullied and tuned, and ride down with him, so redinger isn't by himself!

Michael M-you can hitch a ride with dear old dad, and I might even let you drive big Mysti. If you would touch base with Dan about the pully and tune, and I'll secretly budget...don't tell your mom

Don't tell Mom?!

OK...with that out there...how much money do you have to keep the secret?

You two are very funny and entertaining!

Your secret is safe here...except if Mom corners me.

since I manage the budget she'll never know which envelop I'll borrow the money from for the tune. I was hoping to cover the cost out of the annual bonus....but that's not happening this year.

I was really wanting to try to make it to VIR, but I just can't talk myself into installing a rollbar on the vert. If I'm not going to race, it just doesn't seem like it's worth it to me.

Don't get me wrong, i'd LOVVVE to race the cobra, but it just doesn't seem feasable. Sure wish I still had the 97 hardtop

As Tony said earlier in this thread....come down anyway and take part in the car show and catch some rides around the track with others ( I love passengers and others do to - I am open to letting others do some laps in my car, carefully! ) . This is a great chance to meet a significant # of the club members we only know through these forums. The drive down could be a lot of fun if we coordinate a group to do it together.

As far as expense...I will either have my family RV or a VIR RV rental that sleeps at least 6. I am told that the track shower facilities are first rate. Thus cost wise, you are looking at gas for the trip, cost to stay is free if I have my RV & $25/night or less if I have the VIR RV. The cost of the show registration is cheap too.

To summarize costs....cheap car show, cheap camping, gas for trip, food when there (grill out at RV site - cheap!), and a chance to meet members of this club. Hell, I just convinced myself again why I am going! AND it is the club's 10th anniversary...its time us Buckeye guys w/ these SCMC window stickers on our cars actually attended a big club event as a group!

Hope to see you there and everyone who can get the time off. We will try to coordinate a group drive to VIR and I will post what my exact plans are for camping at the track soon. Anyone is welcome to stay with me at no or very little cost. Thus, the big excuses for not going should be eliminated. I certainly understand though if other factors do not allow Buckeye SCMCers to attend. No pressure from me...just trying to make this simple and cost effective for us. Stay tuned...

Well, I have the time off, as does my dad. So we are 3 strong. I agree with the cheap weekend, it is going to be a blast.

I've made the decision to come down and partake. Mike, Mike and Mark, are you guys camping or hitting the hotel? I have a tent and would like to cut costs as I can, and saw Mike's statement with the RV, so I'm game as long as you guys would welcome a transplanted Ohio to Steeler transplant
