We've got about 8 inches up here in Boone! The skiing was great up at Sugar Mountain last night! They had 10 inches at the top. Snow is great, as long as I don't have to drive my car in it! laters

Unhappy

I hope I never see ice again...

5+ days/105 hours and counting with no power.. They say that only 90% of those WIHTOUT power MAY get it back on by Wednesday evening.

Our fridge is leaking something nice, its 42 degrees INSIDE in the mornings to which the fire never warms the place above 50, and I've read every magazine, played every board game we own. Everything is electric, so we can't cook, or take a hot shower.

/end rant

I can't help but laugh at the whole situation. It's just one of those things where ya think, what's next? Oh well, had to share, even though it sucks, but laugh with me, not at me..

Spiffy,

Get you a kerosene heater and put it in one room and you will at least have one room to stay warm and toasty in. I was thinking of getting a generator for back up.

I had thought about that, but that thought died when I saw the lines at the grocery stores (Wally World wasn't even open - no power). Our neighbor brought us some wood and 2 mornings of 40 degrees inside drove us from our place and I think we're going to stay with friends until our juice is flowing. Judging by the spaghetti strands for power lines, that might be a while. Besides, a lot of people have it worse than us, and I can only imagine what they're going through.

haha, no telling, but its not clear..

I know we're gonna have to empty out the entire fridge. Carol's nice and expensive Healthy Choice's and my many pounds of steak, chicken, and ground beef are, I'm sure by now, rancid. We haven't opened it since the power has gone out so most of it is contained, but it wants to get out.. Clean up is going to be worse than the cold, since we re-arranged the furniture around the fireplace, the fridge, and my many burnholes in the carpet from jabbing many a log in the fireplace.

My sister said her home insurance covered up to $500.00 worth of food due to the misfortune. Check with your insurance company to see if they will do the same for you.

Ice storms are hell!

Just got power, cable, phone back today, since being out from last Wednesday midnight. I'll share some pix of the mess.
