If they claim an exhaust would voild the basic warrenty, the term exhaust would imply headers, mid-pipe and cat-back. Since mufflers fall in the not-covered gray area (may be listed as covered in the 3yr 36k mile, but not the extended warranty). Headers and mid-pipe changes will void the warranty since the cats are protected under Federal mandates and the headers are considered an emissions component. Most dealers will put on performance products including long tube headers, but they should at least tell you up front that the basic warrenty will be void in doing so even if they install it for you. The issue is simple, an implied limited 3yr warrenty.

I took my 04 off the lot assuming it has no warranty. The mods I have done to my vehicle are basically appearance only and the cat-back which should be a problem with the basic warranty. I can wait the three year period before tuning the car into a true monster (i.e. pully, chip, headers, mid-pipe, dang it : "I want a whipple!"). I plan on keeping this one since I do not like the new interior of the 05 and assuming that the next gen Cobra will be similar.

Part of the SVT Service from Ford guarantees a loner car and a wash and vacuum! When I took my car in for a minor repair and didn"t feel like waiting I made them give me a loner and when I went to pick it up it was washed but not vacuumed and I made them take it in and vacuum it. This was not the dealer where I purchased it. Also I have extensive mods.

Thats nice to know! I took my car inn and I had to wait to get a ride home. They had my car all day, and when I got a ride back to pick it up at the end of the day they hadnīt even started to work on it. My dealer is terrible, I will never buy another car from them again.
But thanks for the info.
