Topeka, KS ....Heartland Track had great response/reviews after the 06 SCCA Nationals and the area's (Topeka, Lawrence, KC ...) community support was outstanding. Also there are some great touring roads/attractions thru the Flint Hills!

Looking ahead to 2009, the high cost of energy will be added to all consumer goods. With this in mind discretionary spending dollars will be far less.

I am old enough to have lived thru the 1973 and 1979 energy crunch and did not forget the inflation spiral the dramatic rise in energy created. We have just hit the ice berg the effects of which have not even begun to sting.

Traveling long distances to events will cost more then all other expense related to the event, and make many think very hard about the choice to go or not to go.

At almost $5 @ gallon diesel (today 5-12-2008 I paid $4.659) I will not go to an event I was planning on that would be 3000 miles of driving. The cost of fuel would be 66% of the cost of the entire event/trip.

We need a 10th Anniversary event close to home, everyone's home.

This is what I propose.

The SCMC has established several events in strategic areas of the country, over the past several years.

If each event is held as usual with the 10th Anniversary theme. Then add to it a "semi-formal" banquet dinner.

In this manner many SCMC members can attend the 10th Anniversary bash(s).

And with this in mind it will be a 10th Anniversary Year, not just a single event.

I think that is a good idea Phil and with that.........let me add that our VIR dates for next year are June 5-7, 2009!!

This is in no way a poke in the eye. $5.00 for diesel? Who would know diesel would be less then gas in May 2009? $2.09= diesel, $2.29= gas 5/30/2009 in St. Louis MO.
