Tony,
I have no idea what track cost were...I was a guest both times with an Engineering Firm that was "marketing"...just a legit way to "wright off" a track day

As for reservations, let me know and I'll help anyway possible. I'm out of town alot, but I'll make room in the schedule.

Looking forward to it.

Channing

Either one or two, I'll be there. Two preferably. (You did say post preferences)

The time I ran with SVTOA Atlanta, they had one guy in the tower and a couple of controllers with radios. Pit in and Pit out is a definite must, one session there was no pit out guy, and made it real shaky pulling out on track.

Channing, it'd be awesome if you made it! It'd be nice to see ya again, it's been quite a while.

One day at a time

One day is good for me. Two days and I'll have to do a brake job to get the beast home.

I haven't seen an explicit statement about this, but reading between the lines it seems that I would need a rollbar to drive my covertible at Talladega. Is this correct? If so, I guess I will have to stick to the 411 autocross.

You are correct. A rollbar will be needed for Talladega.

Put a bolt in rollbar in your Vettes and come on out. Just make sure it goes over the top of your head. While we are all above average drivers (in comparison to most street drivers), accidents do happen. That's why they call them accidents. You can at the very least, go rent a Mustang for a weekend and bring it to the track. Who knows, you may just like driving a pony car. If I were to go somewhere without my car and they were having a track event where I was staying, I'd rent a racer for a day. but then, that's me.

Besides, if you should ever flip your car while on track...at least you can reduce the amount of injury by having protection should you sustain any injuries. We all think it can't happen to us, but it does so play it safe. You got the car, a Corvette, now get the safety equipment.

To my best of understanding, the need of a rollbar in a convert. car, was only true if you/they were running R-compound tires.

Therefore a street tire equipped(120+treadwear)convert would be OK to run(without a rollbar).

Is there an authoritative source we can contact to settle the rollbar question definitively?

Tony (Cobrabitn) is the one with the final word on this.

It is my understanding that it is club policy that a rollbar is required at an event like this due to insurance requirements.
