Just a few things that I thought Guest shouldn't do.

One novice decided to have breakfast instead of attending the morning
drivers meeting. Later he failed to acknowledge the black flag and then
spun again at turn 2. Another experienced driver was giving rides to
friends even though he was told not to. Eventually the track personel
pulled him off the track. Finally a non-registered participant found his
way into the drivers seat for a session or two. When the track personel
caught him, he got lippy with them.

These are all decent people but being business owners or the sons of
business owners they have the mentallity that rules are for other people.
In the past they have lost brakes, dropped fluid and blown motors on track
due to failure to perform the required pre-event maintenance.

I am probably over reacting but as guests of mine I was not happy with
the way they behaved.

I had already decided not to invite them back this year. (Let them tear up
the Viper Club events without me) However, if we are in need of more drivers
I can extend the invite.

I figured that I would let the club decide if they are welcome.

p.s. I am not a stick in the mud, but I do believe that the rules at the track
need to be followed.

now that you mentioned it, I do remember hearing about someone driving that wasnt registered....definately not a good thing....same applies to not attending the drivers meeting....we should probably take a quick head count at the meeting and check off names....I'll let brian and tom chime in....

I have been to other events where they have a roll call at the driver's meeting. You don't go to the meeting, you don't drive until the next meeting. This could be something to consider, at least for novices.

I had a great bunch of people helping last year, but for some reason all the issues mentioned above are news to me other than the non-helmet wearing driver which was black flagged immediately, as I understood?
If on-track issues like this need attention, come to me or Scott Whitehead who is the lead instructor. Any help we can get, both on and off track from you all, are totally appreciated.

Brian

Brian,

I would like to officially offer my assistance at Gingerman in September.
I plan on camping out and should be there Friday Afternoon.

I'll be at Gingerman this weekend. Does anyone need me to get anything from the track?

I can't instruct but I can help register, set cones, paint numbers, whatever
it takes. Let me know!

You are correct, the last two years events were fantastic.

p.s. Sorry about bringing up some of the little issues from last year. I'm glad
that nobody seems to remember them but me.

Jeff,
Last year was my first year attempting to fill Dean Smeltzers shoes as the organizer. Dean did a wonderful job and I feel bad that I was not able to take over as smoothly as it could have been, but we will do better this year. I know a little more what to expect and we will have more great help from members like you.

You help will be greatly appreciated. Its' too early to assign specific jobs, but lets all meet up at the track friday afternoon and we will get volunteers assigned.

Thanks, Brian

brian, I thought you did an excellent job pulling things together....it was great to see members (and barb!) step up and help with tech, reg, shirts, grid, instructing, etc etc....I'm sure it will all fall in place once again, and you can add karen and I to "helper list" as well....or is that the "I need help" list? its been a busy busy week....no, make that year
