Hazman, look forward to meeting you and your wife. You can buy me a beer at applebees after I lap you and your wife a couple of times! J/K! Not much you need to do to the z06 for track days, just flush the brake fluid, get some good pads, and get some track wheels/tires. My wimpy 01 with only 345 rwhp ran 1:42 a road atlanta with the stock paper filter and borla exhaust (for sound mainly). Now I have a new intake, but the car is fine stock, that is what is good about it.
Didn't get a great look at the cobra at roebling, it sounded really mean, had a full compliment of safety equipment, was hanging out with some AI guys so I guess I assumed it was an AI car. He was running a few seconds faster than me, but I was slow in the cumaro with 1:29 being my best lap.

![]() I do look forward to seeing your car with all the new goodies though. Sounds like fun. I too am looking way forward to this event. The Focus will have been Lewised by the time this event occurs and may even have a Cobra and Z06 eating mod attached to it. ![]() ![]()

Any chance you called Jackson Racing for the Focus mod Tom?

I think Tim underestimates the SVT Focus handling.
![]() Don, you bringing your Focus down for this event? It would be great to see it there. And no, not Jackson... Vortech. ![]()

I agree with you to a point. The car is very capable in the turns. I ran with a few at Beaver Run. However at Beaver the course has some longer legs and the Focus was laughable on the straights and high speed corners. In fact another 80 hp would mean little. IMO more power would start to take away from the handling considering the front wheel drive. I am not taking away from what it is capable of but it would be very course specific even modified.

An SVT Focus with a Vortech kit has about 280 to the wheels which is plenty to give it legs on the straights. With the battery moved to the rear, it keeps about the same balance (which is horrible, just like the Mustang) so the corners won't suffer for somebody that knows how to use the throttle. Knowing what my car would do at Gingerman stock and at Summit and Lowes with semi-sticky tires, 280 hp and a Quaife diff is all I need to keep up with vettes and stangs. Oh, BD, the banana motor is in my cousins garage waiting to go in his girlfriend's kit car.

Assuming 280 to the wheels and probably a little over 200 tq I agree well driven it could and would beat alot of those bigger V8's. The Focus should weigh 2500 w/o driver.. maybe slightly more. It is still my opinion with equal drivers on most road courses the Z06 at stock hp levels should still have an advantage with sticky tires. 350 rwhp 350 rwtq at 3100 lbs w/o driver... Just M/O... The focus is unbelieveable on an autocross ![]()

Well, you didn't mention equal drivers! I rule!!!
![]() ![]() The SVT Focus weighs in at about 2800, I think. I don't remember exactly. I think it's about 100-200 lbs more than the standard Focus. After I'm through Lewising mine, I'm hoping for around 2400-2500. I have no idea how far I'll go with it though. Plus, I'm adding a roll cage to it, so that'll add a little more weight. CMP will be interesting since I think the Focus will be at home there, especially in the tight section. Plus, I have a friend that is doing a little airbrushing on it that should add about 50hp. ![]()

Guys, we are going to have a fun weekend! I hope you guys don't think I am trying to talk myself up with the z06. It is a great car stock and with sticky tires will take the turns with the best of em. I can dog spec miata race cars, as well as my buddy's 2800 lb 88 m3 on race tires in the turns. I always love to get behind his m3 and coast down the straight and dog him on the turns because he used to tell me that he could tear me up in the turns (don't get mad L!) The car is light as said, weighing in at 3050 with 1/4 tank. Only a couple of hundred more pounds than your fucus with much more power and balance.
Plus did I mention that I am a natural kick@SS driver? ![]()
