My new Cobra
I am a newbie to posting to this board but have read from time to time. I just thought I would share my new ride with you all. I am now the proud owner of an 03 Redfire Cobra with 2900 miles on her. I am a previous SVT owner. I had a 96 Cobra that I traded on a 98 Cobra and loved both. I sold the 98 in 2000 and have missed owning one since. I have been shopping for about 4 months and finally found the one I was looking for.
For those of you that own one of these you already know but for those that don't- this car is a monster. I just thought my others were fast. This one is a freekin rocket. Grabbing 3rd and surging past the slow traffic is incredible. The only mod to the car right now is a Magna Flow cat back that sounds good. I am looking at CAI but just have not decided which one to go with yet. I will probably stop there. I want to keep the car as close to stock as possible. It sure feels good to be back in the SVT family!!!!!

Heya
I had a 2001 Cobra(convertable) all last summer...sold it. I loved that car. It was so fun. I went and drove a 2003 GT mustang...it was a great buy but I couldnt do it. After owning and driving a Cobra, a GT isnt the same. So last month I baught a 2003 Cobra Convertable. I agree, it is a monster. I couldnt believe it, after I picked it up, I got on the highway and floored it in 3rd gear....I was off to 110mph before I could say "Holy - - - -!" I knew from then on, I was going to love it. Hearing that supercharger and feeling the power is amazing. I would love to get rid of the wheel hop but I am sure I can work around it. Unfortunately, I live in New England and the Cobra is in my garage for a few months. Enjoy! Steve |

Welcome back! I too have the 03 redfire coupe. Although about the only thing original is the interior and the Trrunk lid, which by the way has it's second broken third Brake light. Welcome!

Welcome back the SVT family! Yep, the 03/04 Cobras are true monsters out of the box. Just wait and see what happens when you max out 4th and hit 5th gear..... can you say burry the speedo? These cars should come with a caution label : warning excessive speeds may cause heart failure or premature birth due to excessive adrenaline build up. Persons having heart conditions, such as heart murmers or on pace makers should not enter the ride. Please fasten all safey harness and keep hands and limbs inside vehicle at all times. Warning for loss of small children: if child becomes lost druing hard acceleration, wait for vehicle comes to a complete stop, get out of vehicle and inspect trunk area and retrieve child.
If you want to keep the intake as it is, a good filter replacement is the GREEN filter #2002. I tried to fit a K&N and it would not fit onto the MAF extention properly, had the same result with the Fram Air hog due to the hard plastic insert. There is also S&B filters which are supposed to be top notch. I would recommend the JLT CAI kit over the RAI since you should pull air in from the fender and not the engine bay. The only advantage of the RAI is that it is short and straight. Even the stock air box will pull in heated engine air with the snorkle removed but not as much as a completely exposed filter in the engine bay. If you remove the snorkle, do not bother to modify it by cutting it down, all that will do is cause it to collaps when you hit the throttle. That mod worked great on the NA cars, but with the supercharger on board it will literally pull the rubber boot into itself and pinch off the air flow.

Welcome back to the family and welcome to the forums. I would join the club and buy the and buy the cai that Ausie recommended it seems to be the best out there. I can agree with the power difference, I just traded in my 97 that had a lot of mods I did and I now have an 03 sitting in the garage got to drive it twice before winter set in I live in Michigan. I know your pain.

Be thankful it is not a neon light with ballast. They may give you ten years of use but at a cost of $175 for the ballast and $275 for the bulb. I recently had fix or replace the high mount stop light on my 96 exploder. Only needed the ballast so far. I still have the original tail light bulbs as well as all turn signal lamps. Have not had to replace any lamps on the 04 Cobra (14k miles) or the 01 (32k miles). As for the condition of the road surface right now (clean and clear of ice, snow or salt due to all of the rain over the weekend) and tie that in with being on vacation, Sweet. It is sort fun to drive with studless snow tires on it since they do not hook as well as summer tires do. I know what you are thinking and you are probably right, snow tires on an 04 Cobra. They are left overs from my 01. I would rather let the car sit for a long time on those than the summer tires I use most of the year. I sort of like the 01 wheels. Too bad they do not come with a 10 inch width. IF they do, I would get a polished set for the rear and use them for drag racing.
