How much Mod before computer tune needed.

Getting closer to being an owner. I test drove an 03 that had a CAI and very loud Bolra exaust, everything else appeared normal (Car dealer said that was all but they will say anything).

To what level can the car be modified before the computer needs to be re-tuned or chiped.

I am looking for as close to stock as possible, is their away to make sure it has not been reverse modified for the pulley and computer?

You will be fine wth the mods you say the car has but as soon as you put on a pully on you will need a tune...

What Phillip said...as long as it is a CAI and catback, you should be okay. Anything more and you risk the chance of running lean and will need a tune!

If I were to buy a Modified 03 that had the pully replaced and computer retuned, then I put the stock pully back on does the computer need to be retuned to stock?

I know, I know, why would I want to do that? I plan to put a lot of miles on this car for a lot of years and 400HP is good for me.

Yes, you would want to retune for the stock pulley, but in my opinion, 400hp can be just as rough as 450hp...so long as your tune is "ultra" safe, I would just leave well enough alone. The cars will hold up with that little amount of power if they are taken care of properly . Trust me, once you feel the 400 for a while, you'll want the 450, then on and on

That is 100% correct. Once you drive the car the way it is for a while you will want more. Also when you are out on the road someone will find you (especially with the Borla’s rich sound) and want to race. Maybe you will and maybe you wont, but I do know that eventually you will want more. (trust us we know) when you drive a 03-04 cobra all you can say is.

When I drove mine for the first time I could not believe the power. I have been bitten by a cobra and the venom tastes GREAT!

I have minor mods on my Cobra and asked what to do next?? I have only gotten to drive mine for 5 days now thanks to Michigan winter and still would like more but I have to agree that the feeling of the power that it has is awsome. I also told myself I would not need more. I upgraded from a 97 cobra because I wanted more power and the changes that were made to the car it's self.

Thanks for the help, I know its easy now to say I wont need more power, until I own one.

Like the saying goes "power corrupts, but absolute power is kinda neet!" I think that applies here.

a little off topic, but just wondering what you guys are achieving on the top 3 mods.

I've got an 03 cobra with 17k km's on it, its got a pully, tune and full slp headers back...
the car dyno'd 481 whp and 521 ft.lbs of tourque.

at the track I was able to manage a 12.1@122 mph on the stk goodyar 17" radial. I'm very impressed with it, just want to know how it compares

I don't exactly know...when we had our local svt cobra guy look at it and he said there is a size smaller, I'm new to this game, I just gave up my 87 911 turbo to join the svt cobra family.

While running it on the dyno we had a wide band plugged into a custom bong
welded near the collector on the passanger side exhaust...the car was also running a little on the rich side according to the chart...so I'll probably leave it there...I'm kinda afraid to do anyting more to the car...the fellow who dyno'd our car says mod like ours typically show around 440whp and 480 torque.

whatever the case i'm happy with the power, just got to get it as quick as the 911 was

Sounds to me like you have the 2.93 pulley, but the headers helped you out a ton. There's always a freak out there and sounds like you may have one, plus with your 1/4 trap speed, it backs up your power ...he's right though, most with the 2.93 pulley will put down between 440-450rwhp.

thats hilarious....the guy at my SVT shop called it exactly that..."a freak"

i'm really happy with it, just our first time at the track and the rear diff. was leaking.

What do you guys shift the cars at...I find anywhere after say 6000-6200 the blower starts to run out of breath.
