question about 03-04 cobra badging

i'm looking at an '03 cobra i am considering purchasing. it's at a dealership which is about 2 hours away from me. in the picture i've seen there is a cobra eblem on the front grill. now it seems that on almost all of the pictures i've seen of an '03 cobra there is a running horse eblem on the grill and not a cobra emblem. what is the deal here?

When I purchased my 03 vert it had the running horse in the grill as most did. I changed it to the Cobra myself, but there was an exterior dress-up option where the boys at Ford did the change. Not to worry ... you can have either. I still have my horse if you really want that instead of the snake.

just mainly curious if it had anything to do with the cars "born-on" date or something similar like what you stated with the exterior dress-up option. thnx for offering me the horse though. i do happen to like the snake better.

Go to a ford dealer and try to order the factory snake grille emblem. they look at you like WTF. this is a aftermarket piece, no original ford part numbers.

Exactly. My local Fords parts dealer told me not to order the snake from someone else he could get it directly from Ford cheaper. Well after ordering 5 - 10 different parts he ended up finding out it was an after market part. I don't know how many running horses he wanted me to come and pick up.

now that is funny to some degree.

Here is where I bought my snake http://mustangmedallions.com/

I also think that UPR has them too but is similar to the side emblem.

you can get the bits at autozone or other automotive stores. When I changed the emblem I bought a small set of bits (has 5 different sizes) also can be used to remove the MAF sensor for cleaning. (not quite sure if the same size is used for both).
