Its Always Something!

Well took my car to our favorite cobra repair place and found all kinds of problems. Left control arm broke again and the only thing keeping it in place was a triangle shaped steel reinforcement that was welded to the control arm after the first one broke at TWS at 140 mph, on the stright going into turn one. Ordering Maximum M/S tomorrow to airfreight in by Monday. Also from the Austin cruise when I jumped a curb turning into the parking lot that morning, pushed the K-member brace for convertibles into the Canton oil pan. Also the X pipe is pushed into the tranny housing and the brace is pushed into the header and put a dent into one of the tubes. I did some serious work to the under side of the car. Oh, the throwout bearing is going bad, so we have to replace that also. So I need a stock K member and the brace! Set of control arms and serious work to the exhaust and hopefully be ready next weekend for MSR. If we had not put the car on the rack we would have never known about the control arm so maybe the curb was ment to be. Is'nt that a twist. Go figure. It is good to laugh about it now then be at the track and another arm break. I might not be so lucky again. Just a typical day for me

I'm so glad you found this now on the rack rather going into the last turn at MSR and ending up into the wall!!!

So are you ordering the FULL Maximum Suspension or just a few parts??

I am glad you found out about this before the track event Carl. Those MM control arms will do you right

Just because the QA1's fail under open track use (mind you, they are top notch at saving weight up front for drag racing), don't let that turn you off to all of the suspension aftermarket for these cars. There are some tried and true applications that do well out there

Holy ****! Note to self: give Carl plenty of room on the track.

Seriously, does that arm look rusted on the inside?

Good point Edmond, I think theywould be excellent for 1/4 mile just to much stress in the turns and the thin wall tubing just cant take the force.

You just drive to fast.

I think some peeps said that about me too.

If you’re not tearing up anything, you’re not driving fast enough.

The vibration started after I jumped the curb the moring before we left for Austin. Pushed the brace into the oil pan and the cats up against the tranny housing and also bent one of the long tubes. Plus the throw out bearing was going bad which help add to the problem
