but i heard that long tubes arent worth the headache of installing them.. also the car has a mach 1000 watt soiund system with a bunch of amps and 2 subs.. if i do under drive pulleys will that cause the sound to be weaker? Also where could i go about learning more about porting the blower? or prices? thanks

the lower pulley is not an underdrive pulley. It runs with the blower pulley and will give you some more power and lots of more torque. The big advantage is that you will get less belt slip with the lower pulley. They are a little difficult to install but not too bad. You can get 2 , 4, 6, 8# kits but you may want a 2 or a 4# lower with the 2.8 upper pulley. I have a 2# lower with a 2.76 upper pulley. you will get extra boost up to a certain amount. The eaton can only hold so much boost. The kits cost about $400. After that you may want to get a new heat exchanger because the upper lower combo will produce lots of heat. A blower port would be a nice step after this. Then you will be looking at 550rwhp and torque after the port.

There is no underdrive pulleys for 03-04 cobras....only overdrive pulleys like the 2.8 SC pulley for more boost the there is a overdrive pulley for the lower crank to spool boost up faster.....A ported blower is worth all most 50 rwhp alone....Check out www.Stiegemeier.com it is worth the money if you want more power without spending money for a whipple or Kenny bell twin screw....Also a Custom tune by a tuner that knows these cars can make a huge differance....I personally don't trust anyone but www.Pro-Dyno.com to tune my car....

Maybe this is where my in expirience with this model is showing in, but i thought the heat exchanger was the two vents in the hood.... Im assuming this isnt true because other wise what would be the point of this. What is a heat exchanger? and where would i go about comparing them. thnx

A heat exchanger is like a radiator...only instead of cooling the engine it cools the water that flows through the intercooler that is located under the Eaton...In turn cools the air intake tempature....The stock heat exchanger in rather thin compared to the aftermarket unit...The aftermarket heat exchanger allows water the pass through twice to keep water temp down farther....The heat exchanger is located in front of the radiator between the fog lamps....

Well said, The vents in the hood work much better if the splash sheild is cut out and the liner is also cut out. This mod helps to improve air flow through the radiator to some degree. Having a multi core heat exchanger as well as a multi core radiator would be good upgrades for the water to air heat transfer. There are also fan kits that you gan get for the intercooler heat exchanger to improve the cooling effects at low speeds.

+1....long tubes are definitely worth it, but there's other alternatives out there as well...just depends on your budget. Of course, adding more power means a new tune to make sure the car is running safely. Shoot me PM if you'd like some pricing info on tuning and installs .

As Torrey (BLK04Cobra1) said ... the long tube headers are worth the trouble. I only gained about 15 RWHP and I even gained some torque, but the throttle response that you gained was well worth the trouble. My car is actually quieter when not under load, but when you step on the gas ... the headers really let the exhaust note go. I have the BBK long tubes with the BBK shorty H-pipe with free flow cats.

Thumbs up mods for cobra

I've done many mods on my 04 cobra but if I could have only one it would be the longtube headers and matching mid pipe . the sound alone is the most defining part of the car, Mine are BBK longtubes and I have both on and offroad mid pipes between the headers and Magnaflow catback wich I also like, but would give up any day for the headers. When you hear of people talk about the headers being a pain to install, I'll agree to an extent: however if your a first timer doing this, plan for your car to be out of service for at least 2-3 days, just in case you run into problems. buy mil eliminators even if you go with the catted X-pipe. and be patient, then you'll drive your car for the first time after checking for leaks and double check everything you had to take apart especially the steering shaft, you'll hit the gas, and you will have permagrin for two days to follow, if you react anything like I did after the swap! Also dont forget your among many people here on this and other sites as well that can help you along the way. USE THE STOCK MANIFOLD GASKETS, THEY SEAL GREAT AND WONT BLOW OUT! Beyond that, port the eaton I've never heard any complaints among many who've gone that route. I'm hoping to get my stock eaton ported next!
