Thumbs up Winter Karting at F1

Well the weather is starting to get a little colder and that only means one thing...Winter Karting at F1 Boston.

We'll be starting up next month and I'll post the schedule both here and on the regional mailing list. It's usually the third Sunday of the month but I try to avoid the football playoff games. The Patriots are always a threat to be a participant.

If you've never joined us, it's a casual meeting just to keep everyone active when most of the cars are put away. F1 has run a special in the past, 20 laps for $20 on Sunday. We usually run three separate races of 20 laps but you can run as many or as few as you'd like. They have a pretty good pub there and we usually stay around for something to eat and drink and discuss cars, mods, next season's events, etc.

You can get directions and info about F1 Boston at their web site www.f1boston.com

If you have any ideas regarding this event or future events don't keep quiet, let me know

Here are the dates for the karting. I have had a lot of interest for this so I'm expecting a good turnout.

Nov 19
Dec 17
Jan 28 (should be the bye week for the playoffs)
Feb 18
Mar 18

Plan to be at F1 by 12:45. We'll do a head count and reserve the track time. Depending on how busy they are we may have to wait but typically we can get on right away.

Pat, about how many will the track accommodate? I have a few friends looking to do this also, so maybe we could plan to go on one of the dates that you have set already

I think it's twelve per race for "arrive & drive". If you have more we may be able to set up a differnt type of event (Mini Gran Prix) where we all can drive. Let me know how many you'll having coming and I'll check with F1 to see what they can do.

Bad news, F1 discontinued their Sunday special pricing of 20 laps for $20. The closest deal is 3 races for $70 or 4 races for $80. You'll have to get a license too which is $10 for a day or the annual license for $25. Obviously if you plan on coming back to F1 or do more than two events the annual license make the most sense. They allow you to convert a day license to an annual license for $15 if you do it on the same day. In other words, you can try it out and if you like it you can convert to the annual license.

$70 for 3 races isnt bad, only $10 more than the $20/20 lap deal....I'm guessing 5-10 drivers? maybe more? nobody can make the november date, but december looks ok so far....

I think it's still a great deal. You do have to get license though which you didn't have to do last year.

Let me know once your sure of the date and numbers. We can prebook the time but we have to pay in advance.

Bad news I have no less than 3 events scheduled for Sunday. My wife informs me that a family commitment is more important than kart racing.

Go figure. See you in January. Have a Merry Christmas

Last event for the season will be March 18. It's been pretty busy this season at F1 so instead of waiting for track time I'd like to reserve time to do a Mini Gran Prix event. The way it works is there are 3 "qualifying" races and then the top drivers duke it out in a final race. We need at least 8 people but it would be a lot more fun with up to 12. The cost $75 each and you will have to pay in advance. Let me know if you're interested and we'll work out the details.
