Anyone from Coastal Georgia?

Hey I just wanted to see if anyone here is from the coastal Georgia area. I'm in Savannah and would love to meet some local SCMC folks

I'm in Georgia, not exactly near the coast, but not that far either. I live in Sylvania (Screven County), about halfway between Augusta and Savannah. I used to get to Savannah quite often. Usually just to the airport to travel for work though.

If you ever get up this way I'd sure like to see your car. Runs 10.87? That's awfully impressive for a street car. Hell, that's faster than some guys' race cars. The fastest thing I've ever ridden in ran 11.50's (a friend's 1990 LX 5.0 with a Vortec, GT40 heads, etc.). I thought that was incredible.

My '94 is painfully stock (K&N Filter, 3.73 gears, O/R X-pipe), but still a blast to drive. I plan on some more mods, but nothing readily visible. The car is in excellent original condition with only 43.000 miles. I'd like to continue to show it as an original, un-modified car. It ran 14.30@96MPH spinning the tires all the way through first and a little in second, even with an off-idle launch. The track was cold (around 40deg) and I was running on fully inflated street tires. Next time I plan to run some stickier tires and lower pressure. I'm hoping to crack into the 13's without too much trouble. A far cry from the 10's, but still fun.

George,

You probably already saw Chris' car at the Fall Drag Day but didn't know it was his?? He won the Terminator Race and was featured in the SCMC newsletter!

Maybe we need to do a "intro" for club members at the event??

Tony,

I think the intro idea would be great. My wife and I did not spend much time looking to meet everyone at the drag day as we were just thrilled to be by ourselves without the kids for 2 days (it only happens about once every year or so). At least if we all got introduced we would know which members live near each other and could therefore possibly get together outside of official club activities.

Hey George, sorry it took so long for me to reply but I'm actually closer to you than you know. I actually live in Rincon which is about 30 mins away and I have run a few time at Savannah river dragway in your area. It's supposed to open back up in March after some major renovation so maybe we could meet up then. If you happen to be going to the drag day in March we pass through Sylvania on our way up so we could caravan if you like. Let me know if you can do anything.

Chris,

Small world isn't it? We have been to Savannah River Dragway quite a few times and I drive through Rincon every time I go the Savannah Airport.

We actually started going to the track before the dragway opened up. We used to go to see the dirt track races. Now that the dragstrip is there I can't seem to pull myself away to go watch the dirt cars when we are there. I am thinking about going to the SCMC Drag Day in March, it's just a little too far ahead for me to make the commitment yet. I would defintely like to get in touch with you as the date approaches to see if we can drive together. On the way to the SCMC drag day In November we drove through SRS as they were closing it due to the scare over the acid spill. We saw cop cars running around with their lights on but never really gave it much of a thought until we saw the headlines in the paper the next day.

I did hear that they were planning major renovations at the Savannah River Dragway this off-season. My neighbor knows the owners and was telling me about their plans. It is a fun little track, but they definitely need to upgrade if they plan to keep quality cars and the crowds coming. I hope you get back to the track this season. There was a Cobra that took several whoopins from a Subura WRX STI this past year. I do not know if the Cobra was a Terminator or not, but it certainly looked embarrassing. We need you to come teach him a lesson.

Yeah your not too far at all. If you ever need a hand with anything on the Cobra I'd be more than willing to help you out. I have a garage and plenty of tools so don't hesitate to ask. In fact I'll be installing Longtube headers this weekend so I'll let you know how that goes. Here's my email address so just shoot me an email if you need anything. autoxstang@yahoo.com

Well I didn't get the headers on this weekend like I had hoped, but it should be done no later than next weekend.

Yeah I remember seeing pics of your car on some other sites. Nice ride When I get the car finished I'll let everyone know and maybe we could grab a bite to eat if we get a chance.
