Oil in water
Just got finished checking over my 99' and when I checked the water level I noticed that there is a large amount of sludge floating on the surface. The engine oil is clean. My mechanic asked me if it has an oil cooler? It is going to go for a service in a few days were he will look it over but I was wondering if this could be a possibility. I have already replaced head gaskets once in the 4 years I have owned it, and would be devestated if it happened agian, Is this a common problem or does it seem I have a lemon.

I would flush the coolant system and add a oil/water separator kit.

If the oil cooler gasket cracked then you could be getting oil into the water jacket. That happened to me.
