Warranty work

Quote:
too late for the nice approach !! well , actually it coulda been worse. i have a question for ya ... the SVT , they are the crew that is supposed to work on our vehicles right? (our; meaning us cobra people!) ...well the dealership informed me tha ford has done away with that team? true or do u know? ANYWAYS, MY GIRL IS IN THE SHOP AND I WONT KNOW ANYTHING TIL MONDAY . I DID ASK TO SEE THE CLUTCH (IF DIAGNOSED AS PROBLEM) BEFORE THEY REPLACE IT. .I HAVE HAD THE EXPERIENCE FROM HELL SO FAR . WHICH IS TO M Y DISMAY CAUSE I BOUGHT MY 1ST GT FROM THEM AND RAVED OF THE ENTIRE EXPERIENCE. I COULD NOT HAVE HAD BETTER TREATMENT, ATTENTION, FOLLOW UP ETC... WHICH SEEMS IRONIC CAUSE THE "VIP" PACKAGE OFFERED WHEN I BOUGHT THE SHELBY ACTUALLY CALLS FOR THOSE PERKS AND I HAVE FELT EVERYTHING AST THIS POINT BUT THAT!
I HAD TO FIGHT FOR THEM TO GIVE ME COPY OF TSB'S. AND THEN IT WAS LIKE A "SPAR" WHEN I EVEN MENTIONED THE INFORMATION THAT I HAVE PERTAINING TO THE "CLUTCH" ISSUE . I THOUGHT WE WERE ON THE SAME TEAM ? OH BOY.THE ONLY AND FIRST THING THAT I WAS INFORMED OF WAS: YOU UNDERSTAND THAT IF YOU BURNED THE CLUTCH OUT, OUR WARRANTY WILL NOT PAY FOR IT TO BE FIXED" ... WELL.... THE ONLY THING I WANTED TO HEAR AT THIS POINT WAS.. OK, MS. TAYLOR, LETS GET YOUR CAR IN AND GET IT FIXED AND RETURNED TO YOU "..... IS THAT UNREASONABLE COBRABITN? SORRY I THINK I AM VENTING TO U .... BUT .. THAT IS WHERE IM AT NOW . I AM ANTICIPATING A STRUGGLE FOR THE DURATION OF THIS EVENT. OH AND DID I MENTION , THAT TO TOP THE DAY OFF... THEY PUT ME IN A FORD FOCUS ON A FRIDAY NIGHT .. AS FAR AS THE RENTAL CAR !! AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHH. I DAMN NEAR GOT RAN OVER TRYN TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC ! HAD TO TAKE THE BACK ROADS TO THE 7-11... DID I MENTION THAT I PAID FOR THIS CAR AND MY GT LAST YEAR, IN FULL IN CASH AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE ??? O BOY O BOY ,..,,, I M DUMBFOUNDED AT THIS POINT. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP BY THE WAY !

See my other post... for the course of action to take. Ask for the regional manager's phone number and contact them if you are not satisfied with your results from this dealership. I would give them negative feedback on their survey as stated before. There is no more SVT network, that was over several years ago when Ford dropped the SVT Cobra, Lightning, and Focus.

Call the number and tell them you would like to order the Cobra Cert. They will put you direct to the person in charge and tell you your Build Number, Build Date, etc.

Order one today and it'll be shipped mid week. ( That's what they informed me.) They'll charge you 45.00 Shipping incl.

I'm glad you got it taken care of..the nice approach is the best one to take then if they don't flinch, you can take the ugly approach..

It's hard to explain but basically SVT started in 1993 with the 93 Mustang Cobra a 5.0L hi po engine. If you want to learn a lot more about SVT then I suggest buying a "SVT Mustang Cobra Recognition Guide" by the late Tom Shreiner.

My car is in that book... Tom was one of the most enthusiastic SVT Mustang Cobra owners who just loved the cars and the people that bought them. It's a special car built by a special group of people.

Today the Shelby GT 500 has "SVT" nomenclature on the car because it is really the 2007 SVT Mustang Cobra. Ford decided to call it a Shelby because they wanted the car to sell for a premium of which they were successful. it's too bad they didn't really think this thing through because if they had left it a SVT Mustang Cobra and offered a "Shelby GT 500" package, they probably could have gotten more in their pockets instead of the dealership's pockets.

They'll be a three year run of the Shelbys and they do seem to be coming down in price a little. I know the mark up has gone down from $20K to $7K over sticker and with another production year, I expect the price to get down to MSRP like the Ford GT.

Buy the book and anything else SVT and you'll learn a lot more about the car and the club. Our club is referenced in the book by Tom.

P.S. The thread thing is you try to keep the thread on topic and not "hijack" it by talking about something else. It's just courtesy....not a big deal.

What made them change their minds on covering the work? Did they check the removed clutch and see that it was not "worn" but actually broken?

If you can, get Pics. of the Damage and post them up. The "Experts" in here will be able to help you more that way.

If the pressure plate was scuffed and worn, it would be one thing. But this sounds like a Defect. Scour in the plate or on the Flywheel will indicate bad alignment as well. That most often requires a new flywheel as well as a Clutch Assy. Had this happen to a Client at the shop and it was all due to a missing bolt in the Assy..

now that u mention it ...

k, i m hopefully going to pick her up today ... so i will definately take pics... you know it is funny that u told me this cause for a long time,. my car has seemingly pulled (hard) to the right , like out of alignment.. i just kinda thought it was " how it drove" since it was like that from about the first week that i started driving it . so it probably was from the start defective and finally came to head. thanks so much and will get back to u ..

Talking Ford Divisions

I once worked for a division of Ford/Aerospace (long ago) and when my clutch went out. Ford/Ford did not have any replacements. Did some checking and Ford/Racing had 19. It only took the 2 days to get the parts and replace the clutch. I am amazed at how the system works, there must be atleast 20 divisions of Ford
