Warm Start Problem

My '96 Cobra has a weird problem. Cold, it starts right up. When warm I have to turn the key on, then off, then start it. If I don't follow this crazy little regimen the car will start up rich, lope a few times and die. I took it to the dealer once and asked them to check it out but they said it wouldn't do it. I suspect they did not want to take the time to warm it up. Car runs great, no codes but check engine light comes on when it starts rich, goes off when I restart. I'm at a loss! Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
