tuner question

i have a 96 cobra that has a upr off-road x pipe and msd plug wires that i bought a super chips programmer for. my question is that the car runs the exact same time at the drag strip with the stock tune as it does with there performance tune. shouldn't it be quicker with the super chips tune?
