Tire list for 17x10.5 with matching 17x9 wheels
I am beating a dead horse with this one, I am not rating the tires. This is just a list of tires in 315/35-17 size for the 17x10.5 wheels that mate with the 275/40-17 OE size 17x9 wheel. This is what I have found so far. Note: there are more tires available in competition tires but not suitable for long term street use. Then again, what is considered to be long term street use anyway? I typically wear through the rear tires in one and a half summer seasons (depends on how many times I go to the track). If all of my tires were the same size I could extend the life of the tires to two summers but that would require replacement of all 4 tires and not just the rears as is the case with staggered fitment.
Nitto NT555 (275/40-17) $146 standard street Nitto NT555 (315/35-17) $208 Standard street Nitto NT555R (315/35-17) $181 DOT drag radial Nitto NT05 (275/40-17) $170 Standard street Nitto NT05 (315/35-17) $218 Standard street Nitto NT05R (315/35-17) $194 DOT drag radial Nitto NT01 (275/40-17) $194 DOT road course Nitto NT01 (315/35-17) $213 DOT road course Toyo Proxes R88 (275/40-17) $246 DOT road course Toyo Proxes R88 (315/35-17) $330 DOT road course BFG G-Force KDW NT (275/40-17) $236 Standard street BFG G-Force Comp T/A (315/35-17) $250 DOT drag radial Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3 (275/40-17) $242 Standard street Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3 (315/35-17) $343 Standard street Kumho Ecsta XS KU36 (275/40-17) $166 Standard street Kumho Ecsta XS KU36 (315/35-17) $221 Standard street Sumitomo HTRZ (275/40-17) $95 Standard street Sumitomo HTRZ (315/35-17) $115 Standard street Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta (275/40-17) $176 Standard street Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta (315/35-17) $196 Standard street The last entry: Vredestein I have seen on a Porsche last year. The tread pattern is similar to the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3 but with the exception of tread design having the curved tread blocks flowing in one direction to the outside of the tire.

It's hard to pass up the Sumitomo's...they're so cheap! And I don't street race so I am not too concerned with their performance.

yes the sumitomo's are a good price. I just had the 275's mounted on my 10th anniv wheels. Got them at NTB but cost more than what you get on the internet. However, should have the SVE 17x10.5's with sumitomo's on them. Took a short drive with new tires on the front and they felt much like the Toyo T-1R's. Will have to wait for the wheels to get here for a better opinion. Had traction issues with the old BFG's on the rear almost spun out making a left turn.

One thing to add, if you have a Terminator or 99-01 Cobra, 17x10.5 wheels will not fit the IRS rear without some mods like the Maximum Motorsports Sub frame bolt, as well as wheel spacers and longer wheel studs. I have the 17x10.5 SVE wheel with Sumitomo tires and there is barely any clearance without a spacer. If you have dropped the stance on the rear you may gain a bit more clearance between the tire and sub frame.
Some of the tires listed are much wider than the Nitto Drag radials or the Sumitomo 315/35-17 tires. Worse case you may need at a maximum of a 1/2" wheel spacer.
