01 Cobra w/Vortech S/C ?
Dose anybody with the Vortech supercharger kit P/N 4FR218-040SQ installed on there 2001 Cobra have any advice for someone that is thinking about this kit? Is it as good as it looks? Did you add anything to yours that didn't come in the kit boost gage etc.?

I have no experience with the kit but after talking to Chris at Crazy Horse Racing in NJ I am sold. They recommend the kit without the aftercooler and said they could get me over 400 RWHP for about $5000 installed. They use a different chip and custom dyno tune your car. You can find there website at 'www.crazyhorseracing.com'.

Did they say why they recommend it without the aftercooler? Was it a technical reason or a matter of cost? Thanks for the info

I'm interested in the same question.......why not add the aftercooler? Like BD, I did it for the extra insurance and added HP.
On the open track, I never worry about engine overheating or blowing up. Smooooooooooth, all the way up to 6500 RPM. Like Bonny, I run 8 lb boost. I have to drive the car every day, don't want to run the risk of detonation and the sorry experience that can bring on. ![]()

The owner of Crazy Horse claimed that they had enough experience with the units that they could control the detonation with custom programming. I asked him the same question and he said he would not consider the aftercooler unless you had over 12 pounds of boost. If he can get me these kind of numbers and save the price of the aftercooler I am not going to argue. The next step is convincing my wife why I should modify my car that is only 6 months old not to mention the dollar amount.

How come you went to 42 lb fuel injectors..i was told if i got the 8 psi kit that I would be fine as long I got a new retuned chip.. i didnt think you would have to upgrade unless u went to 10 or 12 psi.. just curious..im asking as many questions as I can about forced induction on Cobra's so I can make a decision on which direction to take.... thanks
