2001 Cobra: New Best

Just back from the track...here are the numbers from the best run of the day:

R/T: .515
60': 2.155
330: 5.737
1/8: 8.687 @ 82.42 MPH
1000: 11.244
1/4: 13.397 @ 105.15

This is WITH some hop on launch and the 1-2 shift, but nothing like it used to be. There's still more in the car, but I'm going to have to work a bit harder to find it. Stan was right; 40 lbs. of pressure (actually 38) gives the best 60' and 1-2 shifts on the stock BFG's.

I think I need drag radials!

Ken, great times!! Drag radials will definitly get you well into the 12's. I knocked 6 tenths off my times with them.

Heh...maybe by the event on the 15th! I think the car as she sits has another .2 in her...I just need to launch her a bit better and get a bit smoother 1-2. I scubbed at least a tenth on the hop.

Talking

Ken,

I knocked 4 tenths off my time with no hop at all when I used my Nittos with 18 lbs of pressure in them. You should be in the twelves.

Did you guys use 17" DR's? Or did you take them down to 15"?

I'm going to use the 18" Nitto's on mine as I have a set of 18" rims. Plus wider patch with the 9.5" rims

You have a bit more power to hook up than I do BD. You'll NEED that bigger patch!

John...do you run them all the time, or just put them on at the track?

17 inch 275/40's and I run them on the track only. I take them off when my drag day is over.

Like Tony, I have mine mounted on a second set of wheels. Even knocking 4/10 off his time Tony STILL doesn't have a time as good as mine.

Well, I think I may go ahead and try to get a set of these before our June 15th event at Carolina Dragway. That way I can test the theory. You guys thinking about coming down for that event?
