Help with noise
Hi everyone, need your help on this. I am having a very loud "whirring" noice coming from what I think is called the electric air pump. It is a piece of equiptment located inside the front fender in front of the front passenger tire. It has two electrical connections and what could possibly be either a vaccum or air hose connected to it. Very difficult to see and get to. It makes this noice only at start up and after a period of time stops. Definately not normal. Anyone know anything about this? Can it be taken off and tha car still operate normally? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I had the exact same problem. I replaced the air pump. It wasn't hard to replace and cost me $140 for the pump. I would think that if you disconnected the pump and the check engine light does not come on then it would simulate the pump had stopped working and how would you ever know unless a check engine light came on or the car would not pass emissions. I like to fix anything that goes wrong with my Cobra.

Thanks 97, I'm replacing it tomorrow. I had someone tell me disconnecting it would not harm anything but I'm like you. If it's broke I want it fixed or replaced. Gotta keep her in perfect condition!
