Shelby Northwoods at Road America

http://www.nwshelbyclub.com/

Hey guys, and gals, who's going? The Gentry's are signed up and ready with a room at the AmericInn in beautiful downtown Plymouth.

After just 2.5 weeks of registration the event is half full, so if you're going, get your butt in gear

If you have never been to Road America, you NEED to go. This is one of the largest all Ford events in the country, at the longest race track in North America. It's also one of the most beautiful tracks, and with 14 turns (a couple of which aren't even really turns) in 4 miles, plenty of room to stretch your Cobra's legs... errrr, I mean if Cobras had legs.

The Northwoods Shelby guys put on an excellent event, so come on out.

So, what does "touring laps" mean for Friday and Sunday?

Tom, this is one of the best events I have run. I have been running this event since I was 15, that was my first event actually. It's an open track session. Last year we put over 600 miles on the car at Road America. The car gets a workout and lots of people get some good rides. Saturday is really fun, it's a timed solo 1. I have been stuck at about the 5th fasted time of the day for a couple of years but this year we have a whole bunch more horsepower. I am shooting for runner a sub 2:40. Unofficially last year i ran a 2:43 so I think we can do it.

If you want to go sign up quick, it fills up very quickly and saturday is already getting close.

This event is very well run by Gary Hammon and you get a lot of track time. RA is one of the best tracks in the country.

The downer for you (tom) is that you cannot stay at the track all night, but the Osthoff is great. Talk to me about it this weekend and I will let you know more info.

Yep, "touring" = open track in Northwoods SAAC.

There is a campground right across the highway from the track. If the track won't allow overnight camping that's probably your best bet with the RV.

Come on Tom!!! I still want to see the banana run!

I would like to go. I'm not sure if the Banana will be ready by then so I may have to bring the Focus.

Brian, I'll definitely talk to you this weekend about it.

Stupid question: what state is RA in?

Actually RA is closer to Sheboygan (easier to spell too ).

From Tom L's distance I don't imagine that matters much, but if you're looking for a hotel and Elkhart Lake and Plymouth are full, your next best bets are Sheboygan Falls, and Sheboygan.

I just checked the NASA Schedule and that's the same weekend as the Lowe's Motor Speedway event. I'm hoping to make that my first AI race. I'll have to think about this over the next few days...
