Short tube vs. long tube headers?

I am looking for a set of headers, and was wondering which route to take. My main concern is that I have a bassani X-pipe, and was wondering if there is any way that I can make it work with the long tubes? If not, then I would probably go with the short tubes, unless the power gains are wayyyyyyyy different. any advice on brands and places to get them would be greatly appreciated!

headers

personally I'd go with hooker long pipes, ceramic if planning on additional hp mods, and unless theres something im missing there should be no problem in them fitting. some but not much hp would be lost with short pipes. jba shorties are my pick for short pipe if you like a low mean rumble. they are also pretty easy to install from what i hear and about the same price... most depends on what sound you want and how much you want to spend for added hp. can find the hookers and a few others here http://www.seanhylandmotorsports.com

Long tubes all the way!! Sell your Bassani pipe on ebay, and use that money to help suck up the bill from the long tubes.

No offense, but you are missing something.

Shorties are designed to bolt up to the stock exhaust system, and the aft flanges are in the same location high up as the stock exhaust, as well as the Bassani X-pipe.

Long tube headers bolt up quite a bit further down the exhaust... they are after all longer... and need an X-pipe or whatever that's specifically designed for them. Unless someone does some wild custom fabrication, it's apples and oranges.

But however comma just about every single long-tube manufacturer has their own shorty h or x pipe that bolts right up to their headers. I picked up my combo from brothersperformance.com for just over $600.
