Lay'n the smack down!
Just thought I'd give everyone a quick update from the first autox of the season in my neck of the woods...
Actually, I'm more or less posting this to let everyone know I laid the smack down today in my 93 Moostang GT. I run in the street modified class (SM) with a couple Subaru WRX's and some M3's, and lets just say they didn't come in first place in class today...I DID!!! Don't mean to toot my own horn too much, but this is an amazing accomplishment for me in a car that is 10 years old and has minimal mods. I am running street tires, and with the suspension of a 78 Fairmont I shouldn't even be competing with these guys let alone running faster times. In the past (in the Cobra) I was about 7 to 8 seconds off the fastest time of the day, and today in the 93 I was only 2.5 seconds away. That is by no means a slam on the Cobra, I'm just more at home in the fox chassis. I have sticky tires on the way, with the intention of taking down the Corvette that consistently has the FTD. I will keep those interested posted on my quest for FTD! Until then...happy motoring!!

No John, I won't be celebrating tonight...I have to work tomorrow...smarta$$!! Speaking of phone calls, I received an interesting one from someone else on this board last night. I may have run even faster today had I not been woken up at midnight by this individual that will go nameless until we meet up at BeaveRun!!

Hey congrats on the win! Wanna come coach me for awhile?
I still have a ways to go if I am ever going to place well in an event. So far this year I have been next to last every event but have been working out my old bad habits so the speed will hopefully come naturally.

Calvin_1976,
I have autox here in Pa. on the 18th or I'd shoot down to check things out. When are some of the other dates? Are you running in ESP?

I am running ESP. Also trying not to change the car setup so I can try and wrench on the nut behind the wheel.
Jun 14-15 Rocky Mount, NC Jul 19 Sanford, NC Aug 9 RBC Center Raleigh, NC Oct 5 Laurinburg, NC Oct 26 No one knows yet Nov 15-16 Sanford, NC I am also doing a monthly night series event, but there isnt a published schedule. We find out on email a week or so in advance. If you can make any of the events that would rock! Let me know if you need a place to stay and I will move some of the wheels and spares out of my back bedroom.

I'll see what I have going on for some of those dates and let you know. Any chance I can run my car or are the dates already filled up? What type of cars are in SM down your way?

There is a good chance just keep an eye on the preregister page http://www.thscc.com/autocross/prereg_autox.html it doesnt open to general public until a couple weeks before the event. Sites like Sanford and Laurinburg its usually easy to just show and run if you make it early enough.
