1st place finish @ whats left of the old Rocky Mount Airport

Well I finally placed in an event and on street tires no less. There were only two other cars. One was an old camaro v6 and the other was a 72 stang with the original 302 in it. Both of them had a one day heads up on me since I didnt make the first day of runs. I felt a little like a bully but I guess a win is a win. Maybe it will challenge them to build something faster.

Thanks. The difference is VERY noticeable and I still havent moved the battery or removed the ac. Right now with my current setup the car really rotates well but I could use a little more spring rate to keep the body roll down for slaloms. I think after the cage I might have to spring for coil overs front and rear with much higher rate springs.

congrats buddy....

I did awful this weekend up at the CCR auto-x in Boone. We only got half the runs that we were suppose to because of the wonderful Boone weather. The problem was that I dnf'ed my first two runs and had no clue, and I didn't have time to ask someone between runs because there was only 20 cars in the second run group...Then, my third, and final timed run was so slow because I was only driving like 6 tenths so I could figure out where I screwed up. The miata was fun to drive, but I've gotta get used to how it drives. It has a ton of body roll, but if it is done smoothly, it will be fast (relative).

I can't wait for Summit Point this weekend!!! Then the Parkway Ford cruise in the weekend after...this is how life should be. haha

Later
Dave

Half the runs sucks, THSCC managed 5 runs both days and fun runs Sunday. Sounds like you are having fun with the miata. Try running 6/10ths on the first run so you can get the course down first. I have been using my first run to make sure I know where the course is and find any visual reference I might need later.

Nice job!! Congrats on the win!!

Do you guys get the chance to walk the course before you run? That always helps me out...plus I sign up to work the first heat and then run the second, so I can see half of the cars run before I do to see where people mess up.

Thanks. I still feel like a bully beating up on a couple old cars but I did do it on street tires. Walking the course is a must. I try and make enough time to walk at least twice if not more.

Tom, If you aren't opposed to staying up late, you should come to the 24 hour autocross at Knights Stadium. The autocross is the last weekend in August. Joel, my roomate, and I went last year and had a blast. You and any other autocrossers should come check it out.

Maybe even Tony will come check it out since its in his backyard.

The 24 hour event is a blast even in the constant drizzle we had last year. I got at least 24 runs in and maybe 2 hours of sleep on Sunday.

Thanks for the offer. Not sure if I would take you up on that, but I would love to come watch one.

If you do make it at least bring a helmet so you can catch a ride or two.
