OPEN TRACK EVENT, Kershaw, SC. Aug 30-31 come run with the other COBRAS..

We are inviting Cobras, Corvettes, Mustangs and other compatable high powered cars.

HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE.

SNAKES AMONG US!

General Information,
CobraEarl’s FFR Accessories and Whitby Motorcars, Inc. invite you to attend an open track event at Carolina Motorsports Park, Kershaw, SC. August 30/31. We hope to have many Cobras of many brands in attendance, maybe some CSX cars. There will be Mustangs, Corvettes and other cars there also.

After we receive your registration form we will send you a package of further information including event rules, track rules, a tech inspection form, directions, local motel information and other general information about the event.

The EVENT will have a very similar format to a lot of Open Track events we have seen, in that we will probably have 3 classes depending on Driver experience and HP of the car. Plus we will have a ladies class. Ladies can run with the guys. Each driver is asked to specify the class he/she feels most comfortable with. The organizers reserve the right to make some movement between classes if necessary to balance the classes. Each class will probably run for about 20 minutes; then the next class will run for about 20 minutes. This rotation will go on all day long. This is a high-speed event with limited passing, but this is not a racing event. There are no winners, no losers and no trophies. There will be no keeping of lap times. There will be a tech inspection. All drivers will be required to wear SNELL 95 RATED helmets or better. Dot certification alone is not sufficient for your helmet. Cotton long sleeve shirts and long legged cotton pants will be required while on the track. Class A (Advanced) participants are encouraged to wear driver’s suits and SNELL SA helmets. The track is 2.25 miles and 14 turns... 35 foot of elevation change. We will have the whole track for two days. If you have never been to one of these, it will be worth your time to learn how your car handles at the edge.

Website for CMSP: WEBSITE: http://www.carolinamotorsportspark.com/default.asp
Official Thread for the event is at the EVENTS section of www.ffcobra.com. Updates will be posted there.

TO DOWNLOAD a copy of the Registration Form/ Information Click on this LINK: http://www.rbutton.net/Registration%...all%202003.pdf

If you cannot download or open the link, just Email me at egroce@mindspring.com and I will email you a word version.

CAMPING: we will have camping available both nights. (Friday and Saturday) Volunteers can camp for free. CMP has electric hookups and a bathhouse with Showers.

VOLUNTEERS: we are looking for Volunteers to help make this event a success. Drivers may be required to take at least one turn as a corner worker. Saturday Night, we will have a volunteer appreciation BBQ. Drivers that complete the Volunteer portion of the registration form will be considered to be volunteers also. Therefore, they will be eligible for free camping and free Volunteer Recognition BBQ supper Saturday night. Anyone that wants to come as a volunteer, fill out the registration form and we will get you in. We are asking for this form to be filled out so we can understand your interests and experience level when making volunteer assignments.

CAR STORAGE OVERNITE: We will have a guard hired so we can leave our cars there over night on Friday night and Saturday night.

SPECTATORS: This is not a spectator event, that is, spectators cannot pay to come in. Casual spectators cannot come in for free either. However, drivers can have a pit crew. Drivers, Pit crewmembers and drivers family members may get asked to become active volunteers. Everyone there will be a driver, driver’s family, pit crew, CMS worker, volunteer worker or organizer.

ALCOHOL: discrete use is allowed. OF COURSE it’s not for drivers or volunteers during the hours of the event. The management of CMP prefers that it not be around during the day. The track manager said there has never been a problem with alcohol at CMP and WE ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT be the first

KERSHAW is DIRECTLY SOUTH of Charlotte, about 60 miles. It took me exactly one hour to get back to I-485 south of Charlotte straight up hwy 521... But I may have violated some speed limits a little.

REGISTRATION is open to all brands of Cobras on a first come basis. We will also accept vehicles that are compatible with Cobras as far as speed and handling is concerned. Your car should weigh over 2000 lbs. and have 11 (or fewer) lbs./hp. 5 point harness and roll bars are required on all open cars/convertibles. NO open wheel cars and no motorcycles. If you are unclear about whether you car would be compatible with the cars in this event, call Earl Groce at 336-940-4040.

We hope you will come, have fun, and support this event. We look forward to hosting two of these events each year. Hopefully one each year can be held at VIR.

Um, why didn't you guys come to our event at CMP in the Spring? If you want to have it where we each support one another's events every year then let's chat about it and see what we can work out? We will have a date in March of 2004 like we did in 2003.

I think it would be great to support one another's events, not join events, but just support one another so each club comes out a winner, agreed?

Earl,

I will call you this weekend. I have been tied up all week with work and it's been really tough on me to get to everything when I need to get to it. Let me hollar at you later but we will discuss it, you have my word on it!

Tony just said 'hollar'. He is no longer from NY. He is now officially a South Carolinian.

Everyone that has registered, todate, has a registration confirmation package in the mail.

If you have not registered yet, we will mail you your package when we get the registration.

we are only sending the package to registered drivers... not the volunteers.

look forward to seeing you there.

PS, we are not full YET. but we do have enough for a GREAT EVENT.

SOOOOOO, down load that registration form and get it in ...
