Question Exhaust

Just got a new Black on Black Convertable and want to do the exhaust (cat back); Want it reasonably throaty, but not too loud, especially since it is a convertable. What would you recommend?
I heard Bassani was nice. What about JBA or Steeda?

Any info I can give you is only MHO,

My last cobra had a Bassani X with cats and a flowmaster cat back. Awesome sound but too loud when on the road.

My 03 has a magnaflow X and a steeda(made by borla) Cat back and it is really mild at idle and crusing but get on it and Loudddd

Try the other boards

good luck

Thanks a lot for your input. I didn't know that Steeda Cat back is made by Borla; I love Borla exhaust (had one on my last car and was awsome sound).
Take care.

I agree with SonicBlue on Bassani, I have Bassani x and catback, sounds great except cruising at highway speed. I have ridden in Borla/Steeda cat back and it is milder with good tone. Anyhting you do will improve exhaust note.

Check out:
mustang exhaust sound bytes

they have sound bytes you can download and hear for different exhaust systems ( hundreds of them!! ) and tech areas that offer advice... anyone thinking about changing exhaust systems should visit there...

good luck

1. Does anyone have the new Bassani "modular" X pipe that's featured in the October 2003 issue of 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords? It's supposed to be able to have the cats removed/replaced with very little work so as to accomodate those who go to the track in their daily driver.

If so, how does it sounds with and without the cats?
If so, how difficult is it to take the cats off and put the straight pipe on?

2. What cat-back system do you have? Do you like it?

I am in dire need of some exhaust tone, which my car lacks. I am ready to sound mean again, but the only difference is that this time I'll have the RWHP to back it up...
