cobra r conversion
Hi I was thinking about taking a 2000 Mustang GT and converting it to a cobra r as much as I can. Since I can't get the engine from a cobra r I was going to use a Ford crate engine. It is a 5.8 L carberated engine bored to a 392 it has 430 hp and 450ft-lbs of torque. My question is if it will fit if I get the dome hood. And my other question is because the t-56 is only rated to handle 440ft-lbs of torque I was wondering if that is close enough for it to be OK. I would appreciate any help I can get for this question.

I believe you can get a 5.4 built from Sean Hyland that is very similar to the Cobra R, but is actually "built" stronger (meaning it can handle more horsepower).

To answer your question about the 6-speed, that is a very good transmission for your setup. These transmissions are pretty dang strong, and if treated properly, will last a very very long time. Now, running on slicks and powershifting on the track, you CAN break this thing, but I believe that it would hold up very well with that engine.
