Proper Oil

I HAVE A 2003 COBRA, WHAT OIL DO YOU GUYS SUGGEST?
JUST WANT TO SAY , THIS CAR IS GREAT

1ST GEAR , WHEN THE CHARGER COMES IN IT JUST WANTS TO SPIN, ONLY 1400 MILES AND SEEMS TO BE GETTING STRONGER.

There should be a Cobra supplement manual in you manual package sapperate from your mustange manual[can't spell worth a dam tonight] I would go with what they say. Now some people swear on Mobel one but the fact be found out there are only a hand full of oil manufactures that label under differant names and Mobal 1 just had a great ad campain with expensive cars so it would give you that feeling you are using high class oil I would stick with a well now brand name I have stuck with Havoline but now Shell has bought them out but the oil is the same and never had any internal engine problems and I did have a 91 300zx twin turbo pumping out 600h.p and had 130,000miles with no problems and I gave that car hell. long story short go with a well known brand and the weight that they recommmend in the Cobra manual.

I use REDLINE synthetic oil, it's the best in the business, period. Look up redline at www.redline.com. I guarantee, you won't be disappointed. Your car will thank you for it.

Oil Choices

I have asked a lot of guys on this, mostly Ford service guys. They strongly urged using the factory recommended weight of 5W-20. Only Ford offers such a weight in semi-synthetic. However, recently Mobile 1 offers 0W-20 in fully synthetic.

The weight of the oil is most important; not mineral, semi, or fully synthetic. The reason they explained the weight as most important is because the tighter tolerances and oil channels require such a light-weight oil. One guy even said if Ford had an engine failure and found the wrong weight in the motor, they might not honor the warranty. Whatever.

In any case, I recommend the Mobil 0W-20 Fully Synthetic oil. You'll get safer starts than Ford's oil, maintain the factory viscosity, and have a fully synthetic oil for the high temps of a supercharged engine. Also, NOTHING beats regular oil changes! Clean oil is the equal to the right weight!!!

Just my opinion.

PROPER OIL

Thanks for the advice, That sounds like the way to go. I was un-decided on synthetic or non. I have always heard once you start using fully synthetic you can't change. So that worries me, It is actually my sons car ( I just spend a lot of time with it , Kind of a father and son thing ) I want to make sure if I begin with this oil he will continue it later. Thanks!

I've been using Mobile 1 synthetic 5W-30 since I got the car in 99. Now has 96,000 miles on it, supercharged. I drive it every day, to many SCMC events. Take care of it, don't push it too hard (big boost, etc.) and it will last a long time.
