03 steering defect

I have a 2003 cobra, and it is truly an awesome car, but it goes through tires on the passenger side front like they are free. About 5000 miles and it is time to buy two new ones. I can not get Ford to acknowledge this as a problem. They see it as anyone who buys one of these cars has so much money that 500 dollars every 5000 miles for tires is merely pocket change and to quit your whining. but my car is driven to work and back about 5 miles each way. And occasionally on a road trip rarley is it made to flex its muscles, there is no need to prove what this car can do any one who knows about cars already knows that this is one of the finest muscle cars ever built. But Ford needs to acknowledge this problem and fix it before this car is remembered as a good car with a few problems any imput on this subject will be appreciated tronboy47d@yahoo.com

tire wear?- yes
excessive? no- This car is driven agressively and i expected to have tire wear. rotation is needed for sure. have you lost a weight? rotated/balanced the tires? this is free during the first 12/12 of life for the car.

Mine has been a warm weather daily driver and I have 13,000 miles on it with another 13,00 miles left on the fronts (or better)

I am thinking that my problem was a bad tire to start with. the Ford dealership could not find anything wrong. I have changed the tires and i will see from there, thanks for the reply it has been this site that has given me the tools to find the root of this problem

If you are still under warranty then the dealership should replace the tire.

Wear item or not, if there is something wrong with the car causing that they should replace the tire. I know 99 owners got new tires because of the "vibe" so it can be done!

I'd say this is an allignment issue, therefore the tire should be replaced free of charge

cobrabitn, could you refer me to one of these people who got new tires so I could see what they did. I have tried everything I can think of. I have even called The SVT hotline with no results

if one tire is wearing significantly more than another, unless you drive in circles all day then it is an alignment issue. this should not be happening on a new car. i would definatly talk to the dealer and tell them that the alignment was off on the car. does it pull to either side or does it drive straight?

I had a problem with my '03 cobra pulling to the right. It turned out that it was the Goodyears. I had to get all of them replaced. Ford ran a whole lot of tests but came up with nothing. Then they put some new Goodyears on and it ran great. Strange though it got me new tires. Tires are covered for the first 12K miles.
