MAF Screen

What is the deal with removing or leaving the MAF screen in. On GM cars it looks like a honecomb and they say it straighens the flow to give the MAF a better signal. On the Ford it looks like std screen and if nothing else is a restriction. I install a new MotoBlue CAI and removed the screen.
