First time trial on VIR-South
I finally prepared the car enough to run time trials with THSCC and signed up to run at the end of the school this past weekend. What a rush. Never having run a timed event on a road course and only having seen South course since that morning I was a little nervous. The best advise I have been given so far was to just talk yourself through the track. By turn 3 on warmup I was back into the rhythm and coming up to the pace I had been running in school sessions earlier in the day and my nervousness was gone. During first school sessions I ran an unofficial 1:29.xxx but I picked it up a little during the time trial and ran a 1:27.156, a 1:25.541 and a 1:25.669. I have video footage but no way to get it onto the computer and share it yet.
Sunday it was raining during the time trial and I dont have enough crisis management experience in the rain to run safely so I didnt run. I cant wait until we visit South course again to see if I can best my personal times. If my school sessions were any indication I might have dropped my times a little more. If anyone is interested in running some Time Trials with THSCC drop me a private message. I have been working Timing and Scoring for about a year now and we are really starting to grow. Its alot fun.

We are following the SCCA rules for car classing. I didnt have alot of time to figure out if there was a better class for me so I ran with the SPO cars. My car in SPO is like taking a knife to a gun fight . Examples of cars I compete with are Radicals, ITE prepared Corvettes, and last generation RX7s making a million psi of boost. I was dead last in class but maybe 11th overall of 38. I need to finish results today and get them posted.

Come on Joel...you mean you can't drive that 4-link Mustang to a faster time than a Radical. Keep us posted.

For once I was very happy with how the car was handling (other than a little understeer & brake pads that were better suited for autocross) and the driver is the limiting factor, but I dont think I will be besting a Radical.
