Aftermarket 01 exhaust fit 04??Help

OK so I can't stand it any longer and looks like I am biting the bullit and selling the 01cobra & getting a yellow 04 cobra. I have the basani cats, x-pipe, and the Ford racing FR500 dual mode cat back exhaust. Did they make any changes in the exhaust pipes to cause me not to be able to use my 01 setup on the 04? I also have the K&N from the 01 and not sure if it would work in 04?

sounds good..I go pick up a screaming yellow 04 in a couple of hours. I sure look foreward to the modability of the supercharged motor. I do like the exhaust combo I was running on my 01 so hopefully it all fits.

You can use your existing setup, but I wouldn't.

The 03-04 having forced induction, can benefit from a 3" exhaust, where as your 01 has a 2.5" system (and would actually suffer from the velocity loss of a 3" exhaust stock)

Moral, sell the 01 parts and get some of the proven 03 3" setups

04 screaming yellow cobra has replaced the 01 in the garage.....I can really feel the difference down low with the supercharger, gears and trans. Thanks for the advice on the exhaust too. I have read abit about the magnaflow loudmouth exhaust but unsure. I want racy, significantly louder than stock but not obnoxiously loud. I am a bit dicey about replacing the cats at this early stage not wanting check engine lights etc. I used MIL's on the 01 and they worked but unsure how much power I would actually get on the 04 with replacement cats. Any advice would be appreciated.

Your hp gains can run from 15 to 35 rwhp so definitely a mod to do on these cars. They are totally stopped up with the stock systems.

The exhaust from your 01 will go right on your '04 without any issues. A 2 1/2 inch exhaust isn't a restriction until you are pretty heavily modified. But, if you want to sell the stuff, then by all means......... The Borla Stinger catback with stock H-pipe sounds great, and gives great power. I put down 400.2 rwhp and 370.1 rwtq with just an air filter and Stinger catback. Also, for some reason, by car is PIG rich (off the chart by 4000rpms.

[Thanks for the help on the exhaust. I have read that the stock cobra engine management system does go to the rich side as you develope RPM's. I gotta say this car feels way better here in the Denver area with 4 people on board and air conditioning running than my 01 did empty with windows down. It's a blast to drive. Now I look foreward ,down the road a bit, to a kenne bell etc.

Well based on my dyno results I am thinking the FR500 2.5" exhaust is doing ok for me. I still would like more sound but for now I am happy. Thanks for all the advice. Till next post, take care
