First time trial on Roebling Road

After driving all the way to Roebling last year only to work the event I decided I had to take the mustang and go to the school and time trial with THSCC this year. The drive down to Pooler was brutal on Friday. It was hot (no ac), boring (no radio) and loud (no sound deadener or interior). The event was well worth the drive. My instructor got me comfortable and fairly quick on the track by my 4th session Saturday and turned me loose to run the time trials. I went out in a 2 car group and ended up catching the car in front of me after running one warm up and one hot lap. That one hot lap was a 1:28.192 and I had a rerun to take advantage of. On my rerun I ran a 1:28.807, 1:28.399 and a 1:28.837. The 1:28.192 was good enough for 4th in a class of 5 cars and just 5 hundredths off beating out the 930 turbo that took 3rd and it put me 9th overall of 34 cars running the time trial.

Things got a little more interesting Sunday. The temps were higher and I was determined to go at least a little faster. Going a little faster just was not in the cards for me Sunday. After two out of control offs to the inside of turn 2 I was parked until the time trials at the end of the day. I spent the time getting a little perspective and realizing I was supposed to be having fun not worrying about lap times. During the time trial I ran a 1:28.557, a 1:28.304 and a 1:28.742. Since all the other SPO cars were gone I won fist and last in class and was 3rd overall of 16 cars running the time trial.

If anyone is interested we have VIR-Patriot Sept 11-12 and CMP Oct 23-24.

I think Pearson and Shugg both have tow vehicles for sale!

Sounds like a good time. I hope to make it one of these days.

I dont have a good budget for tow vehicle yet but maybe next year.

Come out for an event sometime. It would be great to see some american iron cars in the time trial.
