Just had a gret spectator weekend at VIR. AV8SS cars, old NASCAR/Busch stockers, Factory Fives, Trucks, lots of good racing to watch.
In AV8SS race, Firebird was running in front all day until on the last lap he went off track at Oak Tree, tore up left rear suspension, throwing out springs and other parts, went tire smoking down the straight, didn't find out if he made it to the finish line. If not, then Cobras and Mustangs cam in first through 6th. Saw a few faithfuls I knew, Killian, Sadler, Schlickenmeyer. Missed seeing the rest of you. ![]()

Sorry I couldn't make it Dave. My brother and his family were up here from Melbourne FL. I heard Will did a great job.

1. Anthony Moretz
2. David Morrison 3. Richard Koehler 4. Terry Killian 5. Greg Anderson 6. Bobby Byrd James Hoover went off at one point ( I think ) and ended up 9th. Pete Johns had a wicked lead , but coming to the white flag, hit the pit lane. Ends up his rear suspension broke after he had a heim on a shock hang up on a rumble strip. Moretz had about a 3 second lead taking the white, but when they came back around for the finish, Morrison was on his bumper. He went to the inside of him coming to the start/finish line, but Anthony got him by about 3 tenths. BTW, the view is good from the scoring tower. And, it is air conditioned. ![]() A big thanks goes to Dan for putting this on. He kept working on it even after having a lot of people bailing and backing out after saying they were coming and despite that, he still put on a great show. After helping on the administrative side a little bit, it gave me an idea of how much any sacntioning body has to work to pull something like this off. Also, thanks to Andie Linn and Cobalt for being a sponsor, the shirts, and the coupons for great brake products. Fast lap of the weekend was 2:09.965 by Moretz. At least , fast lap for AV8SS. Some of the Trans Am and stock cars were running 1:57's. Ouch! |

It was a very good first event.
No, he ended up not racing. He dropped a valve on his car Thursday and said he had water in the oil pan. Not good. |
